This straight from ChatGPT:
It’s just a freak occurrence this guy died from this

In the general population, the annual risk of an otherwise healthy middle-aged adult developing pneumonia severe enough to become sepsis is quite small — well under 1% per year.

The "LSU sepsis test" refers to the IntelliSep test (developed in collaboration with Cytovale), a breakthrough diagnostic tool created by LSU Health Sciences Center researchers and Our Lady of the Lake Health. It is an FDA-cleared blood test that rapidly identifies sepsis risk in under 10 minute
Wonder if this would have been used?

How the frick does someone in Busch's position die from Sepsis? This isn't something you wake up with out of the blue. Sepsis spreads over time shutting down organs. Add pneumonia to the equation and I wonder if we're getting the whole story. Sounds more like a piss poor diagnosis of a pulmonary embolism.

That's my feeling on the story as well. Really bad diagnosis because Dr's or their staff sometimes can't overcome their bias.
I recently recovered from walking pneumonia. Felt real bad a week before easter, I was always tired and started running a low grade fever at night that would go away with OTC meds. Then Easter Sunday I woke up with a 101F fever and felt like I'd been run over by a steamroller. Went to the clinic the next day. Saw some NP who basically listened to all of my symptoms and how I had this once before about 4 years ago and this felt exactly the same.
She listened to my lungs and said she didn't think it was anything. And when I say listened she just had me take breaths not cough. I demanded an X-Ray and got it. A few minutes after she got the result, she walked back into the room and said: "I'll be danged, you have pneumonia".
Got a steroid shot, an shot of anti-botics and a prescribed Z-Pack. Felt way better within 3 days. If I had not demanded the X-Ray she would not have done it. About time I got home from the clinic and laid down after getting the medication, my chest started rattling so hard when I coughed my dog looked at me funny.
If you feel something isn't right, demand a second option or more tests. It's your health, don't let someone in position of authority brush you off.
Also if anyone suggests you go home and take mucinex, which the active ingredient has been proven by the FDA to have no impact, that person is trying to get you out of their medical clinic because they don't know what's wrong or are too lazy to go further. That's exactly what this NP tried to do with me.

That there was no preventive measure that could have or should have been taken.

I will repeat something I said before. Only he knew what he was really feeling like and shared with doctors leading up to this, and he can't tell us anymore.
And sometimes, basically, s**t happens.

Bell won the 2017 truck title in the KBM 4.

Going forward, I bet that a full scan for possible pneumonia will now be a part of every NASCAR driver's standard medical check. A driver so much as coughs, he'd going for a look.

Got it, edited post, I just cut and pasted that

Remind me, why did KBM shut its doors?

That’s just not practical. You can’t do that every time you get a cold or feel sinus pressure

Just a cheap chest xray would be reasonable

He sold it to Spire Motorsports to have more time to spend on Brexton's development.

Nobody is going to hand out chest X-rays for a cold that’s ridiculous. Now if a driver is calling for a doctor after a race and is having issues breathing that’s a different story. Ultimately we don’t know what treatment his medical team gave him. They very well could have gave him antibiotics and told him to get some rest and he felt better a few days later and quit taking his medication. We just don’t know.
