Charlotte area has been covered by rain last night and this morning. Still a lot down around Greenville-Spartanburg.
Truck race moved from last night to this morning to now 9 tonight. Precipitation chances above 70 percent today and tomorrow. Haven't looked at the forecast for Monday.
Even if they get the races in, it's going to be a wet, gloomy weekend to go along with the somber emotions.

I know the community just wants to get this NASCAR weekend over with, and it’s dragging on and on. Feel for everybody out there in Charlotte.

Listened to a Dr yesterday on XM. Sounds like he had a pulmonary embolism.

Sounds like he should have checked in a hospital long before it got so bad but I guess his work schedule and timing didn’t allow that.
Sad!
Proper treatment probably could have saved him but you wouldn’t expect someone that young to not be able to fight that off.

I wonder if any other early warning signs showed itself other than what we know happened at Watkins Glen.

What he had will kill you dead, quickly, if you're as young and strong as a horse. Only he knew what he was really feeling like and shared with doctors leading up to this, and he can't tell us anymore.

Hindsight for sure but once Kyle went over the radio saying he needed a shot from a doctor after a race NASCAR should have had a doctor clear him for the next race. It certainly felt like everyone kind of brushed his illness off, Kyle included and in hindsight nobody should have.

When you're that (relatively) young, you think you're immortal. Every now and then, God reminds us that isn't the case.

This one is tough to watch.

Right, and I feel that his family and those closest around him during the past two weeks will want to blame themselves for what happened.

We’ve all had sinus congestion and most of us have received a steroid shots. No one in a million years will think they will die like Busch did. This is just an unfortunate circumstance that could happen to anyone.

A doctor on Twitter posted that the reality is that no otherwise healthy 41 year old who presents himself with the symptoms of a sinus infection is going to get a full medical workup, whether it’s Kyle Busch or someone off the street.

This.
It's the month of May, pollen is all over the place down South, and many of us typically start hacking and coughing this time of year. Never in a million years would we immediately think pneumonia in this situation. We'd probably just chalk it up to sinus issues and go on our merry way.
Hindsight is always 20/20, and I'm sure his family is dealing with a bad case of it today.

It’s extremely rare for someone that young that is healthy to die from severe pneumonia that turns into sepsis.

I would not be surprised to learn Nascar did go to that same doc and inquire since it was said over radio. And most likely that doc explained it as something minor.

Some things folks discount I think:
1. With the traveling and schedules these guys have they probably “push through” a lot of shite. Stress can knock down your immune system.
2. People can have things like “walking” pneumonia and not even realize it. And if it’s going to go septic it can happen very quickly.
