I don't mind ads as long as they are on the side of the pitch or on the jerseys. I just hate 3 hour games and adding 30 minutes of ads would push things in that direction

You wouldnt think it would that confusing but apparently it is for some
They are treating it as if plays like hail Mary's or hook and ladders/laterals/fumblerooskies dont last beyond when the clock hits 0

Yes it seems like to me they won’t kill a play - they wait until a play ends
No different really than football… if you snap before 00:00 the play continues until it ends

The way fifa programs it in the video game is cut the field into 1/3rds and if the ball leaves the attacking third after stoppage time has ran out the ref blows the whistle

You and Volhalla have successfully put it into terms that might help someone like the OP, but in reality, it isn't needed.
Soccer is a different game with different rules. The game doesn't end exactly when the clock gets to zero. That's not a mistake...or a problem.

I honestly don't get why you think that way. The average American soccer fan absolutely only likes soccer because it's "different" and 100% makes it's part of their personality and you can see that in how desperately they latch on to cringe European sport culture as opposed to trying to assimilate the sport into accepted American culture

Agreed. They average “real” American soccer fan is smug in general everyday life hence they decided to follow soccer.
Hence why they LOVE the World Cup because it gives them their opportunity to be smug when the average American sports fan tunes in and states the obviousness of dumb things like stoppage time. “Oh you dumb rednecks its actually SMARTER”
Don’t even get them started on things like relegation.
