NASCAR teams are worth more than MLS teams right now. MLS is decades away from making the Big 4 into a Big 5 much less becoming number 2.
They could have 5-10% growth the next 20 years (they won’t) and they may be in the same tier as the NHL.

People in this country will keep watching the euro and mexican leagues over MLS.
It's not even close either. Liga MX's ratings are 60% higher than MLS games and the Premier League ratings are 50% higher. The WNBA is considered a joke by most people and their ratings are 40% higher than average ratings for MLS matches. These owners are delusional.

This has been a narrative for going on 30 years since the MLS got going

MLS is just a minor league for Americans needing exposure and old European vets looking to coast for a few years into retirement
It's actually become more of a feeder league for up and coming South American and Mexican players. Almost every single big signing (Designated Players in MLS) this off-season came from Mexico/South America and under 25.

I'm old enough to remember when lacrosse was supposed to be the most popular sport for high school boys in the 2020s. This is about that level of probability.

“ The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.”
Soccer my arse.

Lacrosse needs to stay at the level where it is now. It cant be infected with normies.

England, Spain, Germany, Italy and their top 2 leagues. France, Portugal, Russia, Netherlands and maybe Turkey. That’s 13 Mexico, Brazil and Argentina are prob only slightly better than MLS. I’d put it at close to 15th best league.
For about 25 years old, I’d say that’s pretty good. I fed see it surpassing South America in 10 years
Mexico, Brazil and Argentina leagues are light years ahead of MLS and it isn’t even close
MLS will never come close to those until it produces home talent close to that and it doesn’t
MLS’s commish said they would be a top 5 league by 2020

Larry Berg is retarded
MLB is #2 and it's not even close. Revenues are pouring in.
He better look at NHL, then NBA. Because NBA isn't even in the same zone with MLB , and NBA is a fricking glass house about to break, and has to suck Chinese Dick.
MLB is printing money, and if fantasy baseball was easy for retards, like NFL, and wasn't an everday gig, it would be climbing to #1.
So many Baghdad Bobs in this thread, LOL.

LOL at NBA barely over a billion 1/2 more than NHL, which is literally on one of worst tv deals ever nationally in USA.

I can't think of the last time I've watched an MLS game, but checking out their numbers, they seem to be doing a good job with their 'in game experience' ...
Average League wide attendance was over 21,000 for this past season and 17 of the 24 teams surpassed the NBA average attendance (17,000+).
If they can keep that engagement up, it will grow for sure, but still 30 years out realistically, especially if the super rich middle east oil barons continue to buy EPL teams.

Couldn’t agree more... every little kid is playing soccer
Baseball is a dying sport
In 10 Years though? Look at player salaries and it will tell you how strong each league is
Top 10 MLB player salaries equals $30 million / Year on avg
Top 10 MLS player salaries equals $5 million / Year on avg
So either Soccer will have to grow 6 times its current size or baseball will have to decrease 6 times its current size or some combination of that.
I just don't see it happening in 10 years.

This is what makes me grant some credence to what they are saying, albeit haircutting every number or year assumption they make. Demographics plus vastly improving youth development are going to make the MLS substantially better over the next 20 years.
Most millennials grew up playing soccer but quit in middle school and didn't have any knowledge or interest in the European leagues or stars. It seems like that's beginning to shift a good bit.

Don’t tell that to Atlanta fans.
MLS in Atlanta is already more popular than the Falcons. At least in rearms of actual butts in the seats.

The problem is the American way of developing soccer players is extremely flawed
Posted on 2/26/20 at 4:15 pm to StraightCashHomey21
Sure relative to Europe but is the general youth talent not gradually improving? Pulisic too anecdotal and Reyna kind of a silly example but overall as a casual observer the quality in the system just seems better than it did 10-20 years ago.
Since it was bought up, one other area I'm curious about is Liga MX's ratings gap being sustainable over multiple generations post immigration.
