Oh man, I'm finally here to say that I think Texas is going to become sellers.

Sources: Rangers asking teams what they might be willing to give up in a trade for Yu Darvish. News at Y! Sports:

In the midst of a wicked slump that dropped them to 45-50 and behind five other teams for the second American League wild card, the Rangers are not committed to dealing Darvish, the 30-year-old right-hander who immediately would become the market’s most coveted asset.
At the same time, rival executives believe the Rangers are nearing the point where their struggles could force them to strongly consider doing so. Even if Darvish’s impending free agency would prevent the Rangers from receiving a blockbuster return, rental players of his ilk carry enormous value, and Texas is taking the proper step gauging just how valuable he is.

The Atlanta Braves trade of left handed pitcher Jaime Garcia to the Minnesota Twins seemed inevitable on Thursday afternoon, with multiple reports indicating that the sides had agreed to the deal. But as of early Friday morning, the deal has not been finalized, with Mark Bowman of MLB.com indicating that there is now only "a chance" the sides finalize the deal.
It is not known what the Braves would receive if the deal is finalized, but early reports that the quality of prospect joining the Braves would be diluted by Minnesota taking on Garcia's entire contract were refuted by Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press, who indicated less than half of the $4.8 million owed to Garcia will be paid by Minnesota. Berardino also added that Atlanta could be sending along a prospect of their own along with Garcia in order to boost the return.
LaVelle Neal, who covers the Minnesota Twins for the Star Tribune, indicated that the prospect heading to Atlanta if the deal is finalized is well regarded within the Twins organization.
Garcia deal not yet finalized but could Coppy be getting a legit prospect for 2 months of Jaime Garica???

Reports seem to be mixed on Asdrubal Cabrera‘s trade value. Puma reports that the veteran infielder has “several suitors” on the trade market, while Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News hears from an industry source that the Mets have received a “pretty light” amount of interest in Cabrera

As cited in Puma’s report, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mariners are one of the teams interested in Cabrera. Since Seattle has Robinson Cano, Jean Segura and Kyle Seagerentrenched in everyday roles, it would seem that the M’s would be looking at Cabrera as a multi-position bench option.

Brewers are one of a half-dozen teams who have asked the Mets about closer Addison Reed, Newsday’s Marc Carigreports.

Cubs are considering trading for Darvish. Can't see that happening with how they've depleted their farm system the last two years

Lots of young MLB talent on the roster they can trade and still 2 or 3 prospects worth trading.

They could probably make it happen with like Baez, Almora and one minor leaguer.
If that happens, Cubs win division by 8+ games.

A rental is not fetching two big league players and a minor leaguer in my opinion. If the Rangers could exact that from the Cubs, they should run to the commissioner's office with it.

They won't send Baez for a half season rental imo. He's in play for a deal that would involve a guy like Gray, though.
I could see something with Schwarber but they already have a guy like that in Gallo.

I guess it depends on anyone else making a strong run at Darvish (Red Sox? Rockies? Dodgers?)
But you're probably right. I would say Baez and a top 5 prospect could get it done. Although I don't think the Rangers have a place to play Baez.
What about Schwarber straight up for Darvish? Would seem to make a lot of sense for both teams with Schwarber sliding into the DH.

No way would Billy Beane take Baez imo. He doesn't fit the on base profile. I think if the Cubs want Gray, Schwarber would have to go in return

That's a ton of strikeouts in the lineup with both Gallo and Schwarber

The Cubs aren't going to deal Baez or Schwarber in my opinion. If they refused to deal them last year when they were cruising to the playoffs, they aren't going to deal them this year in a more tenuous position.

Schwarber makes sense to be dealt with Happ hitting

I think they'd trade Schwarber in the right move. I also don't think they can trade for a top of the line starter like Gray or Darvish without dealing one of the two.

You don't move Eloy if you're intending on trading Schwarber. It just doesn't make sense.

I dont see how one has to do with the other
Schwarber is still a luxury at this point, not a necessity. If you can get a SP back for him and address a position of need, you do it
