If it's just Rutherford and the 1st round pick as the big part the Yankees are giving up, I'm okay with that. Rutherford is still a little ways away.

On the surface, it seems like a good trade for both teams. The Yankees get a good haul, and don't have to give up any guys who could help them in the next year or two while they're in win-now mode with this group of young guys.

ya not a terrible hit for the Yanks by not giving up Torres or Frazier. Have to think they bargained with them since Frazier is a FA next year and Robertson is the year after

#Yankees had 2 supplemental draft picks in '13 when Swisher/Soriano signed elswewhere: Took Clarkin 33d, took guy named Judge 32d.

I'm a big fan of Rutherford. Outside of Torres, he might be the best pure hitter hitter in the Yankees system. I'm not sure how I feel about this deal. The Yankees are a year ahead of schedule, and presumably won't beat Houston in the AL. They bolster their bullpen, with control of both pitchers beyond 2017. The biggest deficiency in this team in starting pitching. With Pineda going down, Tanaka still struggling, I don't see a top flight starter to lead the team in the playoffs. I'd rather see them hang on to their prospects, sign Harper and build for 2019. Just my two-cents

Red Sox have been linked to all kinds of 3rd baseman but one guy I haven't seen mentioned seems to make a ton of sense IMO. Yunel Escobar from the Angels. Not the power bat they lack, but he fits their offense and gives them a stabilizing upgrade I'd think.
