This years Yankees are not last years Cubs or Indians in terms of everything else. I will reserve judgement until I see what they for sure l gave up. Chicago has pulled some impressive hauls in these other deals tho

Robertson is tough for me to judge. He was a good to great setup man in New York, but he was poor as the closer. Gave up too many homers.

He's been meh the last two seasons in Chicago, as well.

Maybe getting out of the closer role will help him, though.

I'm not saying that they are. I don't think the Yankees should be making a move like this. But they are, and in terms of "going for it" moves, this will probably look pretty good in terms of overall value being brought in

I don't get why they think they need TWO relievers.

Clippard has been inconsistent and absolutely arse when he's bad, but he's a veteran that Girardi has shown a lot of trust in.

Chad Green has been money for the Yankees as sort of a mid-innings guy that can go multiple innings if you need him to.

Adam Warren is back off the disabled list. He's always been inconsistent and is known to give up homers too.

How much longer are Robertson and Kahnle under contract?

Frazier gives them.the option of multiple positions but he is essentially replacing Chris Carter. Both Mendoza line hitters, who barely get on base....

Robertson is signed through next year. Kahnle should have a ton of control left not sure exactly how much

Todd Frazier is substantially better than Chris Carter.

ETA: And i assume Todd Frazier is not exactly just a throw in, but I doubt he's commanding much in the return. He's currently on a 1-year deal and having an average season.

I just don't want Torres or Clint Frazier to be given up. That would disappoint me a lot.

Only issue I see with Kahnle is lack of track record. relievers are so fickle to really give up anything of value for over a year or 2 of control.

Just a recent example for us, Tony Sipp was great in 2015, gave him 3/18 and he's been complete shite for the last year and a half.

The Yankees might be worried about Betances. He's 29. I guess that's not exactly young for a reliever, especially a guy who's thrown as many innings as he has over the last 4-5 seasons.

Relievers can lose it at any time. His control issues are pretty worrisome.

Well id probably be frustrated if the Dodgers where in the Yankees shoes and making this move. But I wouldn't freak out as long as Torres wasn't involved

Tony Sipp never K'd 15 per 9. Their stuff is a little different, With Kahnle featuring a 98mph average fastball

As long as Kahnle throws strikes he will be a legit backend reliever for a while

His OPS this season is over 100 points higher.

And acquiring Frazier would be for this season and this season only, very likely.

This season
Chris Carter struggled but didn't play every day look at last year
.207/.328/.464 or .222/.321/.499

Carter struggled this year, I get that but Frazier has had over 100 more AB's I believe as well. Easier to get some consistency when you play every day
