In addition to the money the Mets received, I'm told they plan to pass a collection plate around Citi Field. Just $1 from 20,000 fans at every game in 2020 can generate $1.6 million for a helpless Met.

Maybe the Met's are keeping Syndergaard and Stroman for a run next year and they've been stringing people along this entire time and essentially just took the top 2 pitchers off the market without anybody realizing it.

#Yankees have asked the #Tigers about Shane Greene, source says. Yankees obviously have rotation concerns but (further) lengthening their bullpen is one option they’re considering. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Soooo...the Braves are going to sit this one out? Another "wait till next year!" campaign? 2020 was always our target year!!

After doing nothing in the offseason to address that need

But what I was speaking to was competing for a championship, not making a trade. They don't have the balls to do what it takes.

Who are the Mets making a run with?

You need more than starting pitching.

Logic is not a factor that Mets concern themselves with

they were smart taking that approach. this was already a good fricking team. take your time, let a chunk of the season play out, and determine what the exact holes are that need filling.

#Nats have shown interest in #Rangers reliever José Leclerc, sources say; Leclerc had 8 scoreless outings in a row before Sunday's blown save and defeat against the #Athletics.

Mets hurt themselves

As #Mets and #Padres continue discussing Noah Syndergaard, source says it’s clear San Diego will not include MacKenzie Gore in the trade — especially after the Stroman deal did not include a top 100 prospect per @MLBPipeline. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Yeah, by making that trade for stroman they knocked down the value of the pitchy on the market a ton. They only gave a fringe topv100ish 45 fv prospect with upside and another 45ish prospect outside the top 100. That sets a low value for a boderline 2/3 starter with another full year of control

Any Red Sox offer for Edwin Diaz would presumably include minor-league slugger Bobby Dalbec, who is blocked at 3b by the younger Rafael Devers, or 2018 No. 1 pick Triston Casas, in case Mets view him as 3b option. Red Sox confident they will make impact bullpen move.

How did no team beat their offer

It's a buyers market. Only two out of the six division races are competitive right now and it makes little sense to mortgage the future for a one game wild card spot. Plus two of those teams in the tight division races have very good starting pitching (Cubs and Indians) so that narrows down the field even more.

Kid has all the talent in the world and really good contract. Another guy with multiple years of control.

It wouldn’t be cheap to land him.
