The Yankees all of a sudden look old and bad. I'm really surprised as I pegged them for a WC birth, though I'm not ruling them out completely just yet
They've been old and bad since their last WS in '09. The albatross contracts they gave to guys like A-Rod, Teixera, and Sabathia have really hurt them, and their other free agent pickups haven't been gamechangers like they'd hoped.
As a Yankees fan, I'm hoping they rebuild their farm system, go after Harper when he's a free agent, and build like they did in the mid-90s.

The Braves will lose 100 games easily

the cubs lineup is a buzzsaw
Was at the game with some buddies yesterday, and we found ourselves trying to figure out where all that production is coming from. A large chunk of the lineup is not batting that well at all.
Russell, Heyward, Rizzo, Montero, Soler, Zobrist all below .250.

Nolan arenado might actually be a top 5 position player in MLB.

Rizzo had 24 RBI in the month with two rainouts

We did cover that point, and he's knocking them in at a crazy clip. I guess the point was just that with the kind of run production we're seeing, you'd think that the top of the order would be hitting for a better average.

they are 2nd in the MLB in OBP. The average isnt there but they are 1st in the league in walks by a large margin.

In a recent chat, Keith Law put him 4th behind Trout, Harper and Machado.

I think that's right. NA is incredible defensively in addition to his obvious skill with the bat.

I'd probably have Donaldson at 3 right now, and then maybe slide the others down a spot. I could make a case for a few others too though (Goldy, Cutch, Correa, Rizzo, etc.)

He is so good.

I tend to agree with that ranking. He may surpass machado if he learns to be a bit more patient at the plate. However, if manny moves to ss, then manny has an argument to surpass trout

Early home run leaders is a pretty interesting story line:
1. Nolan Arenado, ll HR
2. Trevor Story, 10 HR
3. Josh Donaldson, 9 HR
3. Neil Walker, 9 HR
3. Bryce Harper, 9 HR
6. Robinson Cano, 8 HR
6. Giancarlo Stanton, 8 HR
6. Anthony Rizzo, 8 HR
9. Nine players tied with 7 HR
18. Eight players tied with 6 HR
26. Twenty-one players and the Braves tied with 5 HRs

I think it's worth noting that Jose Altuve is in here and leads the Astros in HR
Not sure I would have believed he'd lead the team after 1 month

We can save that for a team playing over its head like the white sox or someone like that.
White sox just swept Texas at home, Blue Jays on the road and split with the Orioles on the road

Yes, some teams do... such as the Mets, when Harvey is on, but currently he isn't and I would take the Cubs in a series if it were to start today.
