The cardinals are a ~500 club, as I predicted
and no offense bc it's by design but the Braves may be one of the worst teams of all time

Price is just getting hit. Everything he throws gets hit. Surprisingly Porcello is having a pretty decent start. Still way overpaid. The Sox can hit top to bottom which is awesome to watch. And, they have speed. So glad I got the MLB package again this year.

the yankees have hit the ball harder as a group tonight but still find themselves tied.

I am going to be pissed if Mazara loses his role when Choo and Hamilton are back from injuries.
I don't think Hamilton is coming back any time soon. He had ANOTHER setback on the SAME knee. (Fortunately the Angels are paying the biggest chunk of his salary)
Choo comes back to RF, Mazara could go to LF. If he can play CF (Deshields is looking like a one-hit wonder) maybe Desmond to LF. Only if Mazara starts fading (pitchers will adjust, will he adjust to their adjustments?) would I want to see him back to the minors.

Can Trevor Story keep up the pace? Possible ROY?
Posted on 5/1/16 at 9:54 pm to cubsfan5150
It's not just "right pitching timing"; some teams have better pitching than the Cubs.
They probably have the best hitting/pitching balance in the baseball; although it's hard to tell until they play a more cross section of the schedule. It's been heavily tilted toward rebuilding teams so far.

Can Trevor Story keep up the pace?
The pace has already stopped. He's got 10 home runs on May 1st. But 7 of those came in the 1st 6 games. He went 9/27 with 7HR 12 RBI 8SO and 1BB in those 6 games. He had 9 hits and 7 of them were homers.
Over the next 17 games leading up to today, he's hit .214 with 3HR 4 doubles 3 triples 8RBI 31 strikeouts 8 walks. This is more likely the real Trevor Story. He's striking out like crazy and hitting a ton of flyballs (which may not continue) but as long you're hitting a bunch of flyballs playing half your games in Coors, you've got a chance to hit a bunch of home runs.

Possible ROY?
Assuming he doesn't totally regress with league adjustments he's the favorite.

comfortably?
They have a +79 run differential. Next closest is the Mets at +41. Not the largest sample and the Cubs haven't played the toughest schedule, but I think it is safe to say "comfortably".

Only reason I still watch everyday is to possibly see hitory made. We knew they wouldn't be a contender, but this bad? I didnt think so.

My favorite thing is that the bandwagon DAT astros threads is down to less than 10 pages per game already

Exactly
And we are talking about a team that made the NLCS and added Heyward, Zobrist and Lackey. They are the favorites to win WS in Vegas. There is no "let's wait and see how they play vs good teams". We can save that for a team playing over its head like the white sox or someone like that.

The AL central looks to be the toughest division so far by a narrow margin over the NL central

it's fun to see cubs fans get their hopes up so early in the season

The Cubs have played 3 games against a team that could reasonably be considered a contender...6 if you stretch it to include Arizona.
ETA: Seems someone else beat me to this point.

Will the Braves win 50?
Posted on 5/2/16 at 7:00 am to Broseph Barksdale
Rangers will win their division for the second straight year. On pace for 86-88 wins again
