This also seems like a way for MLB to shave off another level of minor league ball.

Yes, but are they not entitled to some form of risk mitigation?

The risk mitigation would be to not let yourself get fleeced by Scott Boras, instead of rigging the entire system to delay the free agency of every single player until past their physical peak.

This isn’t necessarily true. The best players will still reach the majors at around 22 years old.

It’s smart. Remove all those levels and just have one minor league team. Let colleges develop them for free.

A kid playing in the SEC or ACC is a lot easier to evaluate than a high school kid hitting off 70 mph fastballs.

What year did you graduate if they were maxing out at 70 mph

It's important to remember that the person you responded to is a genuine retard.

And all the people that want this change to happen are on the same side of the argument as him.

Do you think HS pitchers max out at 70?

In theory, yes. It’s pretty much accepted that the development in college is vastly different than affiliated ball. College coaches will let a pitcher throw 115 pitches. That ain’t happening in minor league ball. There are some philosophical differences.

We played against a kid in high school that threw upper 90's. Ended up making it to AAA with the Blue Jays organization. Heck, I could throw 70 when I pitched and I didn't have a great fastball.

I graduated in 2006 and guys were sitting 85-90. Elite guys throwing harder than that obviously. I can still run it up to 80 sometimes

Guy must be ancient.
