50 games helps a veteran led team.

Veterans can get in shape in a hurry, and with them being ready, they can take advantage of being ready game 1.

players have already shot down the idea of only 50 games and want at least half a season. but this should still be seen as major progress and they will probably settle on something in the 70s which is still pointless from a baseball season standpoint but is something at least

Curious if players make a choice not to play will they be paid?

Also, knowing it is only a 50 game season how will this impact pending free agents when we know a strike is coming as well. Betts people predicted 250-300 million before, does he come close to that are will the check books close knowing a lock out is on the horizon.

MLB offering range of 50-60g schedule as reported by @JeffPassan corroborates club’s position that they’ll lose money for every game played without fans. Players need to decide to embrace this ….or be willing to take a percentage less to give the fans an 80-100 game schedule.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network notes, commissioner Rob Manfred has the right to implement a schedule that’s as long or short as he wants based on the agreement the owners and players made back in March. As of now, Manfred and the league are still hoping to reach some sort of compromise that works out for both sides, Heyman suggests, but Passan adds that MLB is prepared to go with a schedule length of its choosing if it’s unable to find common ground with the players.

So does that put us back at 82 games? It’s the mid point between 50 and 114.

I think MLB should be working behind the scenes with some city officials in each market to reopen and allow for crowds.

They're allowing crowds to destroy shite. Allow them to watch a baseball game. Even at reduced capacity it would help.

So this is the "sports are roaring back" that Clay Travis crowed about?

yep there’s really no reason anyone can come up with why crowds shouldn’t be allowed after what we are cheering on across country

50 games is laughable. That’s like stopping a normal season at the end of May.

Here's the 2019 NL after 50 games. 6th through 11th separated by 2 games. Total logjam joke.

It’s a negotiation, the players used the March agreement to say only prorated salaries and now the the owners are using the same agreement to assert their power over games played

Apparently for a shorter season we going to see 30-33 man rosters meaning more young players get an MLB roster and service time starting

Just make this bitch a professional version of the College WS and be done with it. Same for making the NBA, July/Aug/Whatever Madness for this year.

50 games??? WTF. With the expanded playoffs, you could end up playing half that in the postseason.

I wouldn’t be opposed to something consisting of 20-30 games of “warm ups” to decide seeding and then just have one massive tournament to decide a champion.

No one is going to take this years champ seriously anyway. Let’s get weird with it and have some fun
