It's hard when he can literally shut anything down
But they don't have to deal him. They can make him play the next 3 years with a rebuilding club, and get a kings ransom for yelich ozuna, etc.
And If they deal those guys and are able to dump gordon, etc. they shed even more payroll and are actually closer to the black, then they ever could trading stanton.
marlins do hold more leverage than people realize

I mean the team holds some leverage sure, but it appears that the options are either keep him and he stays on the books and he's pissed off all year or trade him to LA for likely well beneath market value in terms of prospects.
It's going to be up to LA to offer up if they really want him. They have the prospects.
But a guy with a full no-trade clause is definitely the man running the show, especially if it's the team who wants the contract gone. He's under no obligation to leave.

Good Ole Boy Jeter fires a scout who is battling cancer.... Marlins will be longing for the days of Loria soon

As the Miami Marlins continue to explore trades for right fielder Giancarlo Stanton, the St. Louis Cardinals may not be the 2017 National League MVP's preferred landing spot.
Per Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, people connected to the Marlins don't believe Stanton would waive his no-trade clause to approve a deal to the Cardinals.

Stanton wants to go to LA

Yes. But it's not happening unless the Marlins eat a lot of the salary. Which they won't. The only reason the dodgers will/are involved at all is just too piss off the giants and make them pay more

Sources: #Marlins have agreed to general framework of Giancarlo Stanton trades with both #STLCards and #SFGiants; the deals are on hold, while Marlins wait for Stanton to inform them whether he’d accept either trade. @MLB @MLBNetwork

12:30 PM ET: The Padres officially confirmed the extension. “I’d like to thank Ron and Peter for their continued support of baseball operations,” Preller said in a press release. “I’m extremely optimistic about the direction of our Club and I’m excited to continue building toward a perennial contender in San Diego.”
Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Padres’ general manager A.J. Preller has been given a three-year contract extension. The extension, which will keep Preller in San Diego through 2022, was reportedly signed by both parties back in October and is expected to be formally announced by the club later today.

Dodgers: Get Stanton, Gordon
Marlins: Get Puig, McCarthy, Adrian Gonzales, Keibert Ruiz, Mitchell Walker, and Edwin Rios
Dodgers take on the contract and shed a few contracts as well

I think the chances of Stanton coming to STL are like 5-10%.
In other words, not good.

Looks like the Arlington Rangers have an agreement with Mike Minor. Was hoping the Stros would have scooped him up.
Wonder if rangers are going to give him a chance to start again

Sweet. One of favorite free agents this off season. I’d try him at starter first and if he doesn’t work out there, no harm no foul.
Sign Otani. Sign Mikolas or Chatwood. That would be a great off season for the Rangers.

Cardinals sign some pitcher from Japan. Last pitched in majors for Rangers in 2014.

Worth the risk for 2 years 14 mil.
At worst, he helps with solidifying the pen

The Marlins have been pretty steadfast in not wanting to take any major contract on even if they'll get it off the books next winter. They are reportedly trying to get to get under 100 million in contracts this year
