If they get ohtani their long term picture doesn't look as rocky

If Otani signs with LAA, I can only assume Pujols is playing 1B. No way they are paying $30 mil to platoon a DH. Even though I would put nothing past that front office.

I don't think Pujols is physically capable of playing a position.

Otani can play the OF/DH, give Pujols off days to rest.

I hope you don't think the Marlins are going to take on Gonzalez and McCarthy without Buehler and at least two more of those prospects coming along. Buehler is the prize of the Dodgers farm system, he's gone if Stanton goes to LA. And you can't just unload players in exchange to make the money work so they can get Stanton and Gordon, Jeter would hang up.

Now I do see Puig getting traded for Stanton to make room. He's not good for a team IMO but would offset with the tickets he'd sell due to the proximity of Cuba.

the dodgers are not trading buehler unless the marlins want to the vast majority of that contract

It could work out, or he could be the white Edwin Jackson. I’d imagine his ERA would drop a bit leaving Coors Field. His home ERA was double his road ERA last year

With the amount of Int'l space the Cardinals have and the $300k cap on spending, I'm a little disappointed they didn't make a move like the Twins and trade space for a prospect. I mean they still can, but the Angels don't have much left in their system, and I don't think there is much in the Mariner's system either.

Chatwood has a career 3.31 ERA away from Coors over 300+ innings.

I was hoping for Cobb or Arrieta which we could still get but that also makes me wonder about Ohtani.

The Cubs are still in for Cobb this doesn't take him out of the market for him. I like the Chatwood signing dude has potential to breakout his road era away from coors was really good.

I guess in the grand scheme of things I'd rather him over Lackey if that's how it turns out.

This is what I came into this thread to say.

He's not Lackey, so I like the move by default.

Cardinals are already tight on the 40 man roster, so it may have something to do with that. If they sign someone they would have to leave someone they like exposed.

Here's the caveat to the Gordon to the Mariners deal:
