The Blue Jays have agreed to a two-year, $15MM deal with Isiah Kiner-Falefa, according to FanSided’s Robert Murray (X link). The deal includes another $1MM in incentives, and it will become official when Kiner-Falefa passes a physical. Kiner-Falefa is represented by ALIGND.

Maldonado will earn $4MM in 2024, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports (via X). The 2025 option is a vesting option that would pay Maldonado another $4MM.

DEC. 26: The White Sox are in agreement with catcher Martín Maldonado on a one-year contract with an option for 2025, reports Jon Heyman of the New York Post (on X). Robert Murray of FanSided (X link) first reported the sides were near a deal. Financial terms for the MVP Sports Group client are still unreported.

Giolito’s deal with Boston gives him an $18M salary in 2024 and a $1M buyout if he opts out. If not, the salary for 2025 is $19M. There is a conditional option for 2026 — $14M club option if he throws under 140 innings in 2025, $19M mutual option for 140+, with a $1.5M buyout.

The Braves acquired oft-injured 35 year old Chris Sale. Not really sure why but a cheap flyer I guess.

Good deal for both teams imo. Really like it from Boston's perspective. Grissom checks a lot of boxes for Boston from an organizational standpoint and we've got six years of control. Pretty likely that he's the starting second baseman on Opening Day.

Red Sox are getting in position to go on a nice run starting in 25 or 26. 24 probably won't be great, but a few more savvy moves might give them a chance to snag the last WC spot with a little luck.

Left-hander Chris Sale and the Atlanta Braves are in agreement on a contract extension. The new deal starts this season and is for two years and $38 million, with an $18 million club option for 2026. Sale's previous deal was for 2024 with an option for 2025.

Essentially, Sale gets $17-18M in new guaranteed money. He was due $27.5M — $17.5M this year, $10M deferred for 15 years — and the team held a $20M option for next year. The present value of his salary this season was in the $20-21M range. In the new deal, the Braves guarantee him $16M this year and $22M next year. Atlanta received $17M from Boston in the deal, so the cash will cover his entire salary this season.

The Braves clearly believe Sale’s performance last season portends well for his future, even as he enters his age-35 season, plus they get an extra year of control.

That’s pretty surprising.

At first I didn't want Teoscar because the rumor was that he was holding out for a 4 year deal and he's too old for that IMO. But a 1 year deal? I'm ecstatic.

Andy Pages missed most of last year with shoulder surgery but he should be ready for fulltime duty in 2025 after a year in AAA. And we've got young OFs like Josue DePaula, Kendall George, and Samuel Munoz who are coming up through the ranks. Great signing by the Dodgers.
