MLB allowing this to happen is one of the bigger mistakes they've made in recent years.
Sinclair is a shitbag company.

Sinclair owns 14 of the 30 RSNs and they're so riddled with debt from the acquisitions, they're barely afloat. Comcast wants to divest their RSN's. AT&T spun theirs off in the Discoery deal. Meanwhile Dish and others have let RSN contracts expire and not renew in an effort to lower costs as they battle cord cutting.
Many of these contracts have outs for the teams.
Cardinals can leave Ballys sports anytime to create their own network. There has been talk of Blues, Cardinals, and possibly another pro/college team being part of it.
Sinclair is just holding a dead carcass, praying they can get something from their bad deal, acquiring the fox sports networks.

I think it's an interesting case study from a business standpoint. Probably bores others but to me it's interesting to watch it play out.
We know what the future is, we know that media consumption has shifted to a digital format. But MLB has refused to make that adjustment to meet consumer demand. Their broadcast format is stuck in 1995 but why would you give that up when you can gain 5 bucks per cable subscriber, even those who don't care about and won't watch your team.
That's of particular interest to small market and losing teams where streaming gives fans an active choice to fork over their money where cable does not. I think we're going to end up with some sort of revenue sharing if we go to large scale streaming setup. Otherwise you're certainly going to broaden the gap between the Yankees/Dodgers subscriber revenues vs the losing arse Marlins.

It will be an interesting crossover since so much of their revenue is tied to regional networks. And teams like the Royals will fight teams like the Cubs getting to unleash their standalone networks. Youre right, we will probably see a growth in revenue sharing which is whatever

True dat. I hope that ugly, different colored eyed bastards arm falls off. I felt if they'd ever bring a deal to vote the "regular" players would vote for it. Piss on Boros, and his greedy players.

Glad baseball is back, but I’m not a fan of the 12 team format. The 3rd division winner should be in the division series. Should have at least gotten the ghost win as a compromise.

Former MLB pitcher Odalis Pérez was found dead at his home. According to reports, Pérez suffered a blow to the head after falling from a ladder. Pérez played for Braves, Dodgers, Ronald and Nationals. In 2002 was selected to the All Star Game.
RIP

So far the only free agent news to break tonight is the 49ers signing Nate Sudfeld. I'm unamused.

I appreciate that no moves have been announced when im pretty sure every major FA has had their deals locked in for weeks if not months. No ones wants to be the first to admit they tampered lmao

Are you dumb?
Anyway glad we're back on track. The lockout garbage is over, can get a bunch of signings/trades going on, and we can get baseball back.
