MLB needs to be very careful here. Regional TV issues, now no ESPN. MLB will now get the same treatment the NHL got when ESPN didn't have their contract, it's like the sport no longer existed.

Combine the TV issues with the rapid changes in the game rules and it's a recipe to drive away fans.

usually watch for my fantasy team pitchers. Its hard to follow the Astros when they are blacked out every time they came on MLB.

I don't do fantasy so that's a non-starter for me, but my in laws all watch the Astros and they have Fubo and you can watch the Astros through them. I'm a Cub fan and I can watch all Cub games except for the 4-5 each year the do some silly can only watch on Apple or Peacock thing.

It is that way already, part of the reason why MLB openly complained about the deal before

Hopefully we can get some teams to schedule some Sunday night games in the summer. Teams weren’t allowed to schedule during the ESPN Sunday night window.

If you are in market you can now get your local team on MLB.tv for an extra fee.

I’m hoping this move opens the door to lift the blackout restrictions, because I would absolutely subscribe to MLB.tv. I honestly don’t see why they have the blackout as it keeps the branding from spreading and increasing revenue.

They can't ignore the MLB like they did the NHL because MLB happens in a less cluttered time of year.

wonder if College Baseball can capitalize off this. Get more air time during the year in national TV when other sports are off.

if you are spectrum and you just spent 8 billion dollars to own half of the dodgers media rights, you probably arent going to be a fan of something existing that allows people to circumvent your purchase

Don’t post this on SEC Rant (where certain fans pretend it’s as important as CFB).

but they are possibly the dumbest blackout rules in the history of television.

I've seen a Saints preseason game blacked out in Richmond, playing in Baltimore.

At this point, give me a MLB streaming service. I’ll pay for a service as long as I can watch any/every game that I want.

not legally it doesn't.

legally you get blacked out from streaming any of your "local" teams.
even if said "local" team is halfway across the Pacific Ocean from you.
