Doesn't matter, it's still a bad look
Mizzou's performance all year was a bad look. The program is focused on the portal and Dec 21 signing day. 100% of focus is on next year and no care about a bowl game. It's do or die for Drink. He is coaching for his job based on next season.

Doesn't the SEC pick the lower games? How can they decline
quote:~15 extra practices isn't helpful to next year? Wow.
No upside. Zero.
Bowl games are all about NEXT year's team and roster.

How did the SEC let in two schools that are fricking terrified of their biggest rival

So then Mizzou should decline their share of bowl revenue from the rest of the SEC. Right?

That was my thought as well. I’m all for the SEC revenue sharing with the caveat that if you turn down a bid you forfeit that money.

Sounds like they are just going to get a different bowl on a different date that doesnt impact their basketball program

Love it when 6-6 teams are afraid of maybe having a losing record

Mizzou going out like a bunch of bitches.

While North was fighting South in the Civil War, Missouri and Kansas were literally fighting each other, a real life Josey Wales against Captain "Redlegs" Terrill.

Your titled is misleading. As is the article.
It doesn't say Missouri "declined" to play Kansas in the Liberty Bowl. It's that their preference is not to do so. The Liberty Bowl can STILL invite Missouri and Kansas to participate in the game if it so choses. Then, Missouri would have to make a choice to accept or decline the invitation.
As stated in the article, It’s not unusual for schools to request not playing certain opponents in the postseason. For whatever reason it appears they may not want to play Kansas. That doesn't mean the Liberty Bowl can ignore their wishes. Just like a draft prospect saying he doesn't want to play for a certain team. That doesn't prevent the team from selecting him.

The excuse right now is that they didn't want the bowl game to be on the same night as their home basketball game against Kentucky, so that the crowd size wouldn't be affected.
This deserves to be made fun of, just as A&M was made fun of last year.
You can take a team out of the B12, but apparently you can’t take the B12 out of the team.

6-6 teams making a bowl game is the real clown world!!!
Yeah, we need to go like how it was back in the day when it meant something to be in a bowl! Like the time the Fiesta took a powerful 6-4-1 Notre Dame to go up against a 10-1 #4 Colorado!

How many NFL caliber players are on a 6-6 team's roster that are eligible for the draft? I don't think Mizzou's team would be all that affected. Sounds like a case of soft vertebrae.

How is your situation any different than any other team not invited to the playoffs?
You are skipping the bowl because you don’t want your rival to beat you.
I’m embarrassed for Missouri and I hope the commissioner calls them out publicly.
They should be penalized for the lost revenue and damn sure haven’t done anything to justify sharing money from other teams who are out there playing and bringing in revenue.
