Well it's worse than that given that LSU actually played prime Heisman Lamar Jackson and managed to beat him.

So you're saying that RBs who play QB aren't that good?

Shocking...

"I can fix him"

NFL QB coaches

Someone is going to fall in love with the physical traits. 220 pounds with 4.4 speed. Milroe's problem is between the ears. He can't process a defense when it's moving, so everything is just a chinese fire drill. He doesn't have an entire plan pre snap. He's got the main plan. The backup plan is typically to wait on the main plan if it's covered, which is why he got sacked a lot. Only out of absolute necessity will he run, but often times he would just force the main plan. He isn't a terrible passer when he can throw on rhythm to the main plan, and has decent touch on his deep ball- he is just extremely limited from a processing standpoint. That leads to terrible footwork and mechanics which leads to bad throws.

There are a lot of egos in the NFL though, and all of that's on tape. There's always been a prevailing sentiment in the league that they can teach a guy how to play football but they can't teach a guy to run a 4.4 at 220 pounds. I don't think Milroe is teachable however. You can either process quickly or you can't. He's a smart, well spoken guy, but processing when the bullets are flying is a totally different mental skill

Milroe throwing looks like he's just pushing the ball, not throwing it, it's weird

elite athlete but just not a QB at the next level

Another concern for Milroe is he has small hands

It was frustrating to watch him look like world beater when he played LSU, Georgia, and in certain spots against Auburn. Then shite the bed against Michigan, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma etc. I don't think I saw one game start to finish in his time at Alabama where he played great.

Even the way they dominated the first half of last year's Georgia game, if you look at his stats on paper at the end of the game, they look great. But look at the drives in the second half. 3 and out, FG, 3 and out, 6 and a punt, 5 and punt, and then one bomb TD to Ryan Williams. A whole half of football and you manage one FG and one explosive play, but the rest was abysmal. Couldn't sustain a drive for more than 5 or 6 plays.

This is true. His wins over LSU and UGA were great but as time passes those memories will fade. But 4th and 31... Jalen Milroe will haunt Auburn for all of time. Years from now they'll be just about to fall asleep at night when he'll suddenly pop up and give his "Roooooll Tiiiide!"

Milroe should have transferred somewhere that features a dual threat QB in the system.

Kalen DeBoer is one of the best QB developers in the country and ran a QB run focused offense after eliminating 80% of his Washington playbook.

He still couldn’t process the defense and melted down once they took away his easy reads.

2024 was great, for a RB. 12/18 for 109 yards passing. 12 carries for 185 yards and 4TD rushing.

2023 was about the same. 15/23 for 219 passing. 20 carries for 155 yards and 4TD rushing.

My biggest frustration with him is how LSU made him look like prime Michael Vick 2 years in a row.

He’s such a bad QB

While I don’t think he’s a starter in the NFL, I do think there is a role for qb’s with his skill set. Instead of playing a running back or receiver at Wildcat, have an actual qb. Short yardage? Instead of motioning a TE behind center (because you don’t wanna risk getting your qb hurt, like the Chiefs) have an actual qb. Milroe has the perfect build to run the tush-push. Zone-read in short yardage situations.

I think the Steelers would have been better off using Fields in a similar capacity..

Letting that guy fricking destroy us with his legs is always going to be a painful subject. All we had to do was contain him and make him throw. John Chavis him, if you will. But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
