Exactly. It's not just fox news, but yeah that's the mentality that needs to change.
Starts in the home, though. If/when we're blessed with kids, we plan on instilling pride in them for being (Texan) American, and fostering a mindset that helps them be accepting of folks across the color spectrum. Idealistic? Yeah. It's gotta start somewhere, though. Living in a diverse community also helps (black/white couple in a majority Hispanic town....ain't got time to self-segregate down here if you know what's good for ya
) Most of us are a mix of something or other in America, anyways. That trend's only going to continue as obviously mixed heritage becomes the rule moreso than the exception.
Honestly, I'm looking forward to it.

Check out the book on how ESPN got started & its history. It's called ESPN for some reason. But, there is a long chapter in it that details how much sexual harassment was going on through out the company, and according to the book, Tirico wss one of the worst offenders. There is a strong insinuation in the pages about him that he got away with not being fired because he was a ...minority. From many accounts he's turned his life around but he was not a good guy back then.

Well his mother is white so he's at least mixed.. So if he's mixed what's wrong if he doesn't want to be labeled black. Perhaps he is proud of who is is, and part of that is white, part of it is black as well.
I don't see him saying call me white. He's simply saying don't call me black. It's not that he's ashamed of being black, he probably finds it disrespectful that his white heritage is being completely left out when people just refer to him as black.
