Mariners. But otherwise yes, McGwire hit that one a mile.
the Mariners HR was in the KingDome off of Randy Johnson in June 1997.

The Marlins HR was off of Livan Hernandez in May 1998. He almost went upper deck in dead center field in the old Busch

1955 Cleveland Browns would beat the shite out of the 2016 Patriots. All natural muscle; true working strength. None of that puffy, HGH, "just for show" muscle of modern players.

You have to be delusional to actually believe Mantle hit a ball 565...

Bonds was the purest swinger there ever was. Those claiming guys in the 30's new how to swing a bat better are out of their minds. As time has progressed players in all sports have gotten bigger, stronger, and BETTER.

Drop Barry Bonds in the 1930s and how much damage you think he would do?! He would have been the greatest player of all time without question... More than half the guys that played during that time frame wouldn't make a major league roster these days.

How is this even an argument?

Ceil Fielder had a shot that cleared the roof, one of four players to do it in Tiger Stadium. Killebrew, in the 1960s was the first, Mark McGwire the last.

There were others. Norm Cash reportedly did it several times. Kirk Gibson did it.

I miss Tiger Stadium.

Well, he'd be in the Negro leagues and he would never get the credit he deserved. So there's that.

If you have great technique you don't need size.

My 8 year old nephew has picture-perfect technique. Why can't he hit one out at Wrigley?

Drop Gibson and Drysdale into today and see who would hit them? They were headhunters and had the heat to back it up. Your analogy goes both ways. The zone has shrunk some and if there was video instead of a still, it would help the case.

Mantle could hit it further than the 90's juiced up hitters and monsters of today because of skill? Give me a break.

Somebody had to be the greatest power hitter of all time. Could it just be it was Mantle? You're full of shite if you think Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Mantle couldn't dominate today with the pussy arse watered down pitching staffs they face. Full of shite.

If you think the greatest power hitter of all time is a 6'0" 195lb guy with a 1950s diet and training regimen, there's nothing I can do to convince you otherwise.

Hold up. What? Pussy arse watered down pitched staffs... compared to back then? Pitching has devolved / gotten worse since Mantle played?

ETA: And if you can link me saying Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Mantle couldn't dominate today, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Guys aren't out there throwing 300+ innings any more. I'll take a solid, fresh pitcher over a great pitcher who has thrown 130+ pitches.

There were only 16 teams. Now there are 30. Half the pitchers faced today wouldn't even have been in the league back then. Now, I don't think Mantle hit a 565 foot home run, but that bastard could hit them close to 500 or so. Just because he wasn't big doesn't mean he couldn't smash. Some people are naturals.

That's a load of shite, because what you didn't take into account is that the talent pool is WAY bigger today than it was back then. It more than makes up for the addition of 14 teams.

The trees they made the bats out of back then were stronger because there is so much female hormones in the water supply today. Not to mention the dudes packed more strength into 195 then than 215 now because back then the ozone was intact, the earth was cooler, and they ate like men. Most of that 215 is water weight. Soy flavored feminine hormone water.
