You cannot have a system where 64 teams make a postseason tournament and a 31-0 regular season team doesn’t make the field.

I don’t care if their non conference schedule was weak. There will be plenty of teams that get an at large with Q3 and Q4 losses.

These guys won every single game on their schedule. Conference tournaments at the mid major level are such bullshite. Especially when they are played at a neutral site where all kinds of weird things can happen.

I'd debate that it is harder to go 31-0 at Miami Oh than it is at Duke or any other Blue Blood.

The Blue Bloods have the NIL to offer, they have the alumni base, they have the history, they have the facilities, etc etc.

All of the MAC schools have pretty much the same athletic budgets. They are maxed out to what they can do and what they can offer.

To play similar schools week after week and somehow survive that is a testament to the discipline and the ability to WIN.

At the end of the day, a WIN is a WIN.

They'll get seeded correctly now with the 1 loss instead of being overseeded as I think they would have been. No one is talking about it, but I believe Akron would have gotten in the tourney without winning the Conference... the MAC has had some fun basketball this season.

I think they’re First Four. Think they maybe had a chance to avoid it if they had lost to Akron in the championship, but UMass in the first game is a brutal loss to take.

But with that said, while their schedule is absolute trash (and I don’t mean “ACC football schedule” trash. I mean, it is actually abundantly awful. No Power conference opponents at all, no opponents who will make it as an at large…), I can’t see a team who went undefeated in the regular season left out completely of a 68-team tournament, even though I think there are teams that will be left out who are better.

It's a 68 team field, a 31-1 team should be in every single time, I don't care how garbage their schedule is. The mid-majors should all just quit otherwise.

Absolutely no chance.

Give them Auburn in Dayton. Make them earn it after playing a joke of a schedule and laying an egg in the conference tourney

Would be great theater for people to push agendas one way or the other

If they are in I think it will be as a First Four team playing on Tues or Wed in the play-ins.

They should for sure be in the First Four. Now that they are an at-large, that's the easiest way for the committee to handle it.

You are correct. Akron would have been another very good mid-major team that was (rightfully) left out of the tournament. They are better than Miami (OH).

Now Akron has a chance for the automatic berth.

You can when that team played a really bad schedule. As of now they have 1 Q1/Q2 win. No other at-large would be considered with that number.

True. But its unlikely there will be any with only 1 Q1/Q2 win. Who you beat matters more than who you lose to. The committee has made that clear over and over again by their actions

I agree 100%...which is why I, personally, think they should get a bid...and I think they will. But I wouldn't call it a certainty.

What a bunch of bums for having a SINGLE bad day out of 32 games.

the system is set up to screw a team like Miami

every preseason is full of power team matchups. Kentucky vs. Mich. St, Kansas vs UNC, etc colluding to improve SOS, TV $ driven

mid major to power team: Can we play a game?
power team: no

Selection committee to Miami: your SOS is too weak sorry

If the committee shuts out Miami, OH, each member needs to pull their pants down and be whipped with a cane. Leaving them out of a 68 team tournament would be criminal.

Not much different than in football.

G5 gets good enough to score wins and well love helmet logos and suddenly the big name P4s won't play them. Then if the G5 beats the low end P4s they get attacked for not scheduling a big name P4 that refuses to even pick up the phone when they call.

UMass almost doubled them in offensive rebounds. That's going to be a problem for them if they get in.

31-1 dances. End of story. What a ridiculous tournament of 68 if they didn’t.
