The media is trying to bring football down

Yet the major media conglomerates of FOX, CBS/Viacom and Disney are paying billions to show it on TV

How many concussions have you had?

I’ve had four. I truly believe it affected me long term way worse than it did short term. There is nothing wrong with trying to educate people on the consequences and repercussions of playing a full contact sport for an extended period of time.

That doesn’t mean I agree with the sissification of football, but at some point, organizations have to protect themselves from people who want to sue them

My son is one of the biggest kids in his class. The football coaches have sent him home with letters asking us to get him to play.

He isn't playing (he doesn't want to anyway). Come at me.

I've probably had at least two, one midgame in football and one in basketball practice.

Both times I was lightheaded and vomited, but didn't want to stop playing/practicing, so I didn't. Neither coach stopped me.

Understanding effects of head injuries is a good thing. I look back and am glad I didn't hurt myself much worse by playing through the concussion.

Trying to protect participants in a sport isn't bad. Acting like we shouldn't be educated for fear of being soft is stupid. You can be tough and intelligent.

Hell, some of the dumbfricks on this board still mock players for the lack of emotional control (i.e. crying) after a brain injury.

They’re different for everyone. The last one I had, I got from football just like the other 3, but I had PCS (post concussion syndrome) for about two weeks. It was so bad I basically had to drop out of college. I was constantly walking around in a daze, could never remember what I was writing, and trying to recall what i had learned in a class that was only 20-30 minutes ago was impossible. It was quite frightening TBH.

This is top tier in the NFL. You can play football in high school and college and not have worry about a guy like that.

I just remember feeling like I was in heaven because the field and everything else was glowing. I was sick and lightheaded, then puked.

I distinctly remember realizing I had a concussion and thinking "**** it, I might as well keep playing." I'm not 100% I could have added 2+2 successful at that point, but I wasn't thinking rationally.

I'm eternally thankful I didn't take another hard shot right after that.

You're also not the size of an nfl football player in high school

The arguments here are laughable

Go take your 14 year old kid and once a week go in your yard and beat him in the head and body with some big pieces of plastic in the name of the non pussification of america

i got one 2 years ago playing flag football when i ran a slant into a defender and we collided heads.

was dizzy for a good 20 minutes and felt nauseated for bit, and pretty much didn't play again for a few weeks. yep, i'm a wuss, but i'm in my late 30's...i got too much shite going on to let that to fester on.

it doesn't matter the size of the opposition, it's how you get hit. imagine your kid getting blindsided out of no-fricking-where and him being a little uneasy for a bit. you gonna call him a pussy for sitting out a play or two, or the rest of the game if he's not feeling right?
