Again, it’s a stale atmosphere in these empty arenas. Canada is trying to kill these franchises, the Jays, and the CFL.

The Oilers were a fricking tire fire and still have no depth beside Draisatl. Chiarelli seriously handicapped the team This isn’t the NBA where one or two good players will carry a team to a championship.

I will admit that his legacy will be purely determined by Cups now and as a huge Oilers fans I want him to get a couple.

Edmonton is such a small market. I’m not saying if he played for the Rangers or Kings that this would be everywhere but I think it certainly wouldn’t hurt playing for a larger market team.

Does market size matter these days with the internet?

I have no idea who this is or what this means.

Being raised in Louisiana means we know nothing of hockey.

But I truly wish I knew more about the NHL and less about the NBA.

ESPN picking up the NHL will be good for the league marketing wise.

All these clowns on here that watch EDPN just to bitch and post here about it will get more exposure to the game.

McDavid is Sid's heir apparent to best player in the world.

He's gonna run away w/the MVP.

The problem this season is unique. The NHL North Division is all Canadian teams and NHL fans in the States just aren't focused on that division this year. Add in that Canada is still playing in empty stadiums and pumped in crowd noise. I watched the Edmonton game last night and it was just weird to see that phony environment after watching sports in the USA opening up to real crowds. All this adds up to not much hype for McDavid.

Looking at the stats I believe only 5 other players have ever been over 150 total. I'm not a huge hockey fan how good is this guy?

Edmonton was the third smallest market in the NHL when I was a kid yet were far and away the team of the decade, even more so than a NY area team that won 4 Stanley Cups just before them.

its tiring to skate.
the frequent shift changes take it into account.

the stick is a weapon.

it's a violent game.

nearly all white people.
lots of swedes and finns.
lots of Russians and czechs.
canadians love it.

Very, very good, probably great. He's no Gretzky though, even when you adjust Gretzky's stats based on era.

His lack of playoff success holds him back a lot as well. He could be Crosby level but hasn't won anything.

He is scary good and will be the Crosby level of talent of this new generation. He is a damn good player.

As for this playoff nonsense..he is one man. Hockey is a massively team based game. You have far to many shifts to say one player is responsible for all good or bad. They did that to Ovech and Crosby anytime their teams fell and it was nonsense.

Mcdavid needs help. In the playoffs teams focus will be stopping him and defense in the playoffs is much nastier than the regular season.
