For AD and only 1 first round draft pick?….new orleans, hurry up and call dallas…trade Zion for 10 first round picks…see if he bites.
Somebody needs to check on Cuban to see if he aint suicided himself

The Mavs were worried about Luka's conditioning and being injury prone, and they trade him for.....Anthony Davis??

Kyrie for Alvarado is next

Mavs traded their best player in franchise history who is just now entering his prime.

I just keep thinking about how bad this sucks for Mavs fans. It is incomprehensible - they LOVE Luka. Love him. It would be like the Broncos trading a 25 year old John Elway.

Cuban hasn’t posted about it on his leftist safe space yet, he’s probably in depression

Dirk is the best in franchise history and if you actually followed the NBA, Luka has been looking more like Zion than "best player"

he only owns 27% of the team now so he is not as invested as before. But carry on

I know he sold most of it. Dont doubt that dude isn’t seething that the new ownership immediately destroyed his franchise he’s worked so hard to build up. He thought he would still have a say in basketball ops there and the new ownership would just do the business side. He was wrong. They immediately go behind his back and trade his favorite player since Dirk

Facts
Cuban is now a minority owner
Luka is always out of shape, injury prone, plays no D and even at 25 has lots of miles on that body. Was playing pro at 16-17. Wanted a max 5 year contract which would tie him into Dallas for 5 players. Rumors were swirling that he is not motivated to play unless he got his max contract. Dallas is making a move to win now.
Lakers now have a star to bridge the gap once LBJ retires. No rim protector and another liability on defense. Laker season over.

the trade is so unbelievably dumb for the mavs that they must have been forced to do it by the league. there is no way mavs decision makers think this is a good deal in any way for them

Then he should have tried to keep majority control.

Y’all actually think Cuban wasn’t notified before us about this deal??

Potentially but Dirk was pretty good

frick Cuban... hope he gets fleeced everyday for the rest of his life

Luka must have slept with the GM's wife or something. Otherwise this makes sense. Hell even if Luka did you still don't trade him because of that. What is Dallas doing?

This is an all time dumb comment
OF COURSE he wants a max contract, he’s one of the 5 best players in the league, guys like him are the reason max contracts exist.
And Dallas made the finals with him LAST YEAR, it’s not like he’s been subpar or not played well in the playoffs. The only reason they aren’t a top 3-4 team in the West now is because he’s hurt.

Notified? Yes. But he wasn’t given a choice. They were just telling him it’s happening, deal with it

I read that Luka made it clear he didn’t want to stay in Dallas after 2026 when his contract is up. So they got what they could for him I suppose. Yeah it fricking sucks for them.
