Plus she had the courtesy of saying he waited outside, followed her to her car and refused to get out… which even if it’s the gane she was trying to play with him can really go over fantastic for a guy in this climate - both the possibility of him catching flack or making other young men out there think it’s a winning idea

She did not cheat, she broke up with Stafford because he did not want to get serious, and she did. So she dated the backup to get him jealous, and it worked.
