his contract with Japan had 4 clauses

quote:

1) Ramirez will have use of a Mercedes and driver
2) Ramirez will get a hotel suite on the road
3) Practices are optional for him
4) Ramirez will receive unlimited sushi for the entire season.

Ortiz gets more love and more publicity, but Manny was the far, far superior hitter on those Red Sox teams.

Right before his suspension in 2009, I saw him hit a ball at Minute Maid further than anyone ever had. It left the entire park over the Crawford boxes. He got a 50 game suspension a couple days later.

This is like when Greinke got called up to the majors for the firs time. Instead of being happy, he asked his manager if he could instead go back to A ball and play shortstop.

Brian Graham (Manny's manager, Canton-Akron Indians, AA, 1992): He would come into the clubhouse, take his street clothes off. He'd go to one person's locker, put their long underwear on. Go to another person's locker; if they had a T-shirt he liked, he'd put that on. He'd just pick socks out of someone's locker, put those on. He'd use your belt if your belt was close by. He'd put your hat on. If he liked your shirt or your shoes, he would wear them home that night.

yeah but in his prime, that dude could fricking hit

I was at a Red Sox-White Sox game in 2005. Top of the 9th, tie game, and Manny pops up a ball down the 3rd base line. Joe Crede, who was usually reliable, drops it in foul territory. Everybody I was standing with on the LF concourse was thinking we were in trouble after that.

And of course, the very next pitch Manny destroys into the bleachers right in front of us. The entire ballpark groaned as soon as he made contact. To this day, I haven't seen another ball leave the yard that quickly.

Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz = GOAT HR duo.

I enjoyed their 2004 run.

Hank Aaron and Eddie Mathews is the correct answer, but yeah those Red Sox lineups were very much fun to watch. Fenway was the perfect home park for Manny to spend his prime years.

I enjoyed their 2004 run.

I was on my honeymoon in New England right as they made their comeback against the Yankees. It was pure euphoria up there.

I enjoyed watching him at bat when I lived in C Town.

That dude simply didn't give a frick.

But he could hit, effortlessly.

I've always thought Manny and Miguel Cabrera were similar hitters, which I think is a huge compliment to both of them.
