But they didnt and Mahomes threw more picks in the final minutes than Brees has all year. If he doesn't do that, the game was basically over down 3 with a minute and 3 timeouts in Rams territory the way the game was going. The only thing that stopped Mahomes tonight was himself and that should count for something in the MVP race.

Mahome is much like Favre. His arm talent makes him overly confident over what he can do. It also is what allows him to make the lays he does. The main difference between them is that Favre didn’t play his early years and prime in a league that is intentionally tilted to offense and in particular the passing game.
That said, he’s a great talent and playing very well. The thing is that in both of his teams loss, he’s been a major reason with his turnovers. The same can’t be said for Brees.
If both teams win out, I’d honestly give Brees the MVP but I’d likely be giving him the edge for his body of work and getting screwed in 2009 and just horrid luck in 2011 with Rodgers season that year.

I find surprising and disappointing you are suggesting 1 game that’s not the even the last game, will cost someone the MVP

MVPs don't turn the ball over like that late in big games.
Not only the turnovers, Mahomes kept missing low.

the NFL it comes down to turnovers. You could have 800 yards but if you give the other team 4 turnovers, you’re going to have a tough chance to win.
Except they had a good chance to win the game at the end even with 3 turnovers.

Or, how about you quit blaming the Chiefs D and lay responsibility to someone who deserves it, like Pat Mahomes. How about, if he didn't have 5 turnovers, he wouldn't have had to keep throwing the ball and trying to make plays.
But, you're an idiot, so carry on.

Mahomes had TWO opportunities at the end of the game to show he's an MVP - and both times he threw inexcusable picks.

6tds and 5 TOs isn’t a way to win the MVP. Drew is the front runner as of bow

“Apart from those things that would keep him from winning it, he should win it!”
Might as well say if Blake Bortles didn’t suck balls he would be good.

And if Brees would have had the EXACT passing yards, TDs, TOs as Mahomes did last night this board would say “Brees was in a shootout and had to pad his stats”. This board contradicts itself all the time. Drew Brees, after week 11, is the front runner for the MVP, PERIOD

Don’t think Mahomes hurt his MVP chances tonight. I want Drew to win it but dude threw from nearly 500 yards and 6tds. I know he had the turnovers but if he had a defense he doesn’t throw those last 2 picks.
All of the years Brees had to win the game in spite of his defense, but now it's used as an excuse for Mahomes. GTFO

^^ THIS
I don't really care what his stats say at the end of the game... I watched that whole game and he played well but when they had 1:49 left on the clock with 3 time outs I said "Here is your chance to show you are the MVP"
He choked...
RAMS gave him another chance...
He choked again
He may end up the MVP at the end of the season but that was a golden opportunity to put some chits in his MVP cookie jar.

His defense came up huge.
He directly caused 14 points, indirectly another 7. He is the reason why it was even close late just as much as he's the reason they have a shot to win.
But those last 2 drives are on him. He decided to be reckless and throw two picks. For everything nice he did and the game was close. He costed them the game and folded like a lawn chair.

Your and idiot. If the Rams don’t convert on 4th down the game was over.
You can’t give someone the benefit of the doubt in that capacity for an individual award.

Agree with all that. But this isn’t as bad as Brees’ worst game this season.
FWIW, I do have Brees leading the MVP race. I just don’t think this is that bad for Mahomes’ chances.

He had 5 total turnovers and 2 of his turnovers were taken to the house
Why people are overlooking that is beyond me. People have seemingly forgotten the analytics on how bad turnovers are for a team

He actually gave the ball to other team 5 times leading to 21pts. How is that being overlooked?
They must mean he was the Rams' MVP?
