Spare me.

Past PGA tour sponsors: Worldcom. Enron. Lehman Brothers. Groupo Salinas. Wells Fargo. HSBC.

Name a scandal, and they sponsored a tour event.

I dint we can say either way since the tour has chosen to be so secretive about their financial situation other that broad player payout percentages..

Then be transparent. If there is no more money there is no more money. It’s not rocket surgery.

That’s my question. The PGA has known for quite a while that the new TV contract was kicking in and LIV was also about to start up. Why wait until now to make adjustments to purses and adding tournaments? We’re they just going to pad their own pockets and stockpile the cash with the extra revenue? Why make adjustments now that you’re under the gun from the LIV pressure?

The only reason the PGA is awarding more money is try to keep players from defecting. Eventually they will have to come to some sort of agreement with the players and the LIV.

Not only did they add 200MM through the 8 tourneys. They increased purses for a handful of other tournaments by over 50MM. Why wait until players left to announce this? An extra 250MM available for top players.

Yeah that’s some shady dealings by the PGA. I would think the players would see right through this and ask some serious questions.

Probably could have saved themselves a lot of headaches by making purse and tournament adjustments before the season began.

I am kinda enjoying the hypocrisy in seeing what is being done to the PGA. How quickly they are changing to adopt some of the same concepts LIV has offered (and being criticized for). I guess no cut “exhibition” golf, as critics call it, is now acceptable to the PGA.

Can you be anymore disengenuous? These No cut tourneys are in the same breath as WGC events and the tour championship. Based on actual merit results and qualifications from playing golf. And it isn’t the basis of the entire tour

I don't care if there is billions of dollars left over and no one else should. Who should tell a company/organization what their profits should be...Biden was calling out Exxon recently, wrongfully so, and even if they are making huge profits so what.

Bottom line is there is no way to compete with the Saudis...reports that DJ was paid 125 million just to play 8 tournaments...Tiger was offered close to a billion.

My question is, who do you think was lining their pockets? There is no owner. Maybe you can say some of the top admin salaries but that is not that much in the total revenue.

DJ and Phil had a 3 or 4 year contract, not just 8 tournaments

This is a great point. If this gets out ahead of some borderline players making the leap, it makes the decision much harder.

They were always planning on doing this, LIV moved up the timeline. They currently don't have sponsors for the 3 major events, so they're announcing them without being sold.

The Tour reserve funded purses during Covid and put a major hurt on said reserves. They're not just sitting on billions. These increases are through TV and sponsors, not an unlimited slush fund.

Cantlay confirmed yesterday that his team is negotiating with LIV and working out details.

Xander, Finau, Hideki, Cam Smith, and Hovland are all announcing they are leaving in the coming weeks.
