Long time MSB favorite Greg Popovich stood for the anthem last night

Wearing Black Lives Matter shirts, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and assistant coach Becky Hammon opted to stand while players and coaches on the Spurs and Sacramento Kings kneeled during the national anthem Friday night.
Popovich, who has long spoken out against racial injustice, explained he preferred to keep his decision to stand "to myself" and that "everybody has to make a personal decision."
A couple Twitter comments:
quote:
What is ignorant is that @gregpopovich never did anything or spoke out until it was politically expedient. @gregpopovich has become a joke. As a Spurs fan I’m sad to see. Guess I’ll go another season not watching the @spurs.
quote:
Before y'all start assuming Greg Popovich's decision to STAND for the anthem means is pro Trump, you are terribly mistaken! He's one of the BIGGEST & most vocal advocate for social justice.Pop served innthe Air Force. It's possible to support social justice causes & still STAND
quote:
He doesnt need to follow the mob mentality to stand up for black lives. Greg Popovich didnt kneel either and didnt give a reason when asked. If a player has the right to kneel then they equally have the same right not to for whatever reason they believe in.
quote:
Seeing some folks bring into question what kneeling has to do w/ religion, primarily w/ Orlando Magic F Jonathan Issac. Greg Popovich says he decided to stand for personal reasons, and everyone smiles. Issac says he won't because of his faith, and people lose their minds.

Can’t believe we live in a world where you are questioned for standing for the national anthem. Jesus.

Based upon his inability to stop saying stupid stuff, this surprises me.

The world is getting dumber by the minute.

Imagine that super vocal leftist Greg Popovich is being criticized for not kneeling , and while wearing a BLM Tshirt

NBA's return after months of no sports didn't even best MLB's return (a dedd sport by some) return TV ratings and couldn't beat Tucker Carlson's cable news show going head to head
Ths league is a joke.
Ths league is a joke.

I’d like to see it devolve to a crappy AND1 tour.

I mean, as much stupid shite as Pop says politically, he's still an Air Force vet. Him standing for the flag shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone, tbh.
But we live in a stupid, stupid media environment (yes, that Pop is partly responsible for helping create, but still).

all of the dialog of this country has been taken over by absolute retards.

All the fans that will stand by them blindly are all out "protesting" or not the ones that drive the ratings. Who would've thunk that tv ratings are driven by normal, every day white people that have a low tolerance for being told what to think and support, particularly when those things essentially tell them they are racist and should repent the sins of their great, great, great grandfathers

Just call it for what it is: kneeling is a safe gesture now. No risk, no sanction. When it was a risk, very few people took it.

I wonder if those dolts who run the NFL are taking notice?
