I’m pretty sure they are opening 9-12 with the seniors having an option to finish at their current school if they have their own transportation

Multiplier is already applied

The most glaring ranking there is Destrehan at No. 16

Much of it is similar to SB Live

Bolton is transitioning to a K-12 school. Think it happens next year. Haven’t heard heard about them fielding athletic teams. Maybe they drop football and focus on basketball and baseball.

Academic and Performing Arts Magnet. Adding 6-8 next year, K-5 the year after, if there is no issues with building renovations for it.

Current students can finish out their terms, but no incoming freshman who are not program accepted.

Bolton's zone will split primarily to Peabody, some supposedly to ASH but with the 1469 number that came out yesterday for ASH, it already being highly overcrowded and them building new class space for what they already have over the next few years, I'd believe they will start denying kids out of zone from choosing ASH for awhile, pushing additional to Peabody and Tioga. I wouldn't be surprised to see both 5A in the next 5 to 10 years.

Bolton will have sports, that was not the original plan. Community pushed for it, when they pushed against the whole K-12 idea. Prevailing thought right now is, they probably won't field a football team.

Sorry if already discussed.

Is Prairieville High opening for the 24/25 school year?

Assume the lines for all three east bank Ascension schools will be affected?

Nobody will really care about this point but just to vent a bit.

I love my alma mater and would hate to see it go away but the East St Mary Parish schools really should consolidate. Using numbers from Patterson Berwick and Morgan City that would put them at about a hair under 1600 (Probably closer to 1500 or so students factoring in families that would opt for central catholic/hanson over the combined school). It would open up so many more opportunities for kids in the parish with the larger school and probably make the area as a whole more competitive in sports given the recent dip we've taken. Plus the only town thats really different "culturally" is Berwick and a lot of those kids still hung out and got along with students from the other schools.

Will Bunkie be able to stop the Jena rushing attack with the size of Jenas line and Bunkie light up the middle and will Jena be able to stop Bunkies athletes at Qb and receiver.

Bunkie is light up the middle but fast and strong. Been outweighed in every game by 30+ lbs across the line. Scheme has been a strength, allowing backers to run around freely. No o line yet this year is on the level of Jena's though so it'll be a challenge. Jena's o line scheme is basically to disengage d linemen and get to the second level quick.

unless they really think the split is going away in January

Spoiler alert: it’s not

maybe not in january but been hearing lots of rumblings from 5a public school coaches who now want it to end and add 1 or 2 classes.

the reason is that its such a huge gap from top to the bottom of some of these classes

5A- 1580 diff- 153% difference, so dutchtown is 1.5 times as big as neville which is the smallest 5a

4A- 422 diff- 68% difference

3A- 214 diff- 52% difference

2A- 160 diff- 70% difference

1A- 165 diff- 72% difference

B- 117 diff- 51% difference

C- 83 diff- 319% difference

to me the big issue is percentage difference especially in 5a. Could easily end the split, create a 6A and even a 7A and have 16 team playoff, have it much more even and much more competitive.

Yes, opening next year and all 3 other schools will be affected one way or another. I know for sure that St Amant and Dutchtown enrollment will go down but not sure how much EA will be affected

That doesn’t solve the main issue of select and nonselect basically playing by different rules

And not just by attendance zones, but by laws and state mandates

This is why the split will never end. 8 of the top 10 schools are select.

We have too many championships as it is... even if we ended the split and went back to 5 in football and 7 in other sports.

I do think the population range is too big in 5A, I get that point, so maybe we need to expand classes 1A-4A?

Maybe but 5A schools are best equipped to deal with the population range…

again...the public schools could just offer better facilities, coaching etc

all the private school is doing with offering a scholarship is evening the playing field.

Dunno why yall are always screaming about different rules when obviously parents dont want to send their kid to the shitty free school and are willing to take a 2nd mortgage out to get their kid into a good private.

This may be, like travel ball, another situation where SW LA and SE LA operate differently.

In SE LA, most of the private schools have terrible facilities, if they have sports facilities at all. They may have some better coaches, but those coaches have to put up with a lot of political BS inside the schools.

People go to the private schools here in SE LA because they want to go to the private schools, and yes, recruiting does happen.

hell no, st louis only private over here and they are still in trailers. im just talking in general

the recruiting and offering scholarship just levels the playing field for the private

parents dont want to pay for privates. they do it because they dont want their future college kid sitting by johnny blow hard who's future at best consist of being a helper in the trades. or next to Laquisha who wants to fight everyone etc etc

what im saying is even if they recruit and offer free tution....all that does is level the playing field.

people dont go to the publics in SELA and NOLA & BR specifically because they are dog shite. so people move to the AP, Northshore or they send to private school because the education is better

im a public school kid. 1 of my kids will go private, other 2 prolly public so im not being biased when i say this. the publics just need to do better when it comes to education, control in the classroom etc.

people dont pull their kids usually from public schools that are A+ schools that also have good athletics. they just dont. they pull them from schools full of shite heads. Up until covid Chalmette was considered an A school with awesome facilities. They shouldnt be losing anyone. Their coaches should be contacting the players in that district and showing them what they have to offer, both to the player and the parents. no excuse for them losing players to a school with shite facilities.
