8-AA is a mix of the new and the old…

Dunham, Episcopal, and Northeast have been parked there for years, though I believe Dunham and Northeast had cups of coffee in other classifications.

East Feliciana has been there off and on for years as EF and individually as Clinton and Jackson, though they had trended 3A more recently.

Baker and Capitol have spent time there as well but those were both 4A or 5A schools in my playing days, so that’s a massive decrease in enrollment. Granted, Baker is now an ISD while Capitol is a charter the last I checked, meaning they are no longer part of the normal EBR system.

And I didn’t know Slaughter Charter existed before this.

Not sure how long the school has been around but they have been playing football for 6-7 years.

I haven’t come across them because they didn’t play my HS, they didn’t play the local power where I live now, and they aren’t one of the schools we played back in my day in district, playoffs, or out of district.

I knew EF was the consolidated school for EFP, didn’t know Slaughter had their own charter or that it played ball even though they are up the road from me.

I don’t know who you do or don’t root for, but we’re not the first school to get out of John Curtis’s district

I am sure it had more to do with than just football, they have been having a pretty easy time in district for baseball.

I think in 2013, when we joined the JP district, it was a good one for us, but we outgrew it

We’ll probably never be in the Catholic League again and that’s ok because it’s an unfair situation due to attendance zones

I miss Archbishop Chalmette in the Catholic League.

Will also allow Tucker to end the annual game against HC.

to think in the 70s and 80s that was one of the toughest districts in the state too...

We’re 10-1. Why would he do that?

Check that. Tucker doesn’t even have the power to do that. People above his pay grade do.

We can’t beat them if we don’t play them

Word going around is that he was not happy that HC would beat Chalmette and then HC would loose a bunch of district games. Said it was hurting Chalmette with power points.

I would hope someone above him does not allow it to cancel. It has to be the biggest pay day for Chalmette on their schedule every year.

Clearly it isn’t hurting us that much, given that we’ve hosted twice in three years despite losing to HC both years

And if Tucker is mad about losing to them he knows what to do

With that being said… they beat John Curtis so they better agree to our terms or we’ll call J.T. He always needs games

Second time in as many cycles where the LHSAA allowed schools to manipulate districts to avoid competition. Not a great precedent.

They do that also by allowing teams to play up in class. Move up to an easier district.

If we wanted to avoid competition we’d have asked to stay in the JP district. The Slidell district will be harder in every sport

With that being said… imagine the screws the Catholic League will put on Karr for wanting to leave and on Easton if they have the kind of year again they did this year

Slaughter opened in 2011 with only middle school grades and added a grade each year until they offered 7-12th grade. First graduating class was in 2016 I think.

CHS - HC means a lot more to the alums than it does to anyone currently playing or working at either school.

Today, except for history, HC means no more to St Bernard than Bro Mart or Jesuit.

The youngest alums who went to lower 9th ward HC are about 35 now…

And by the time no one gives a crap about HC anymore, we’ll have a second high school in the parish

There’s talks that in January if they vote to keep the playoffs like they are right now that districts will be made up off of divisions that you are in. The new district proposal has teams in the same district but different divisions for playoffs.
