it's heartbreaking to see what they are doing while LA is mired in a socio political quagmire.
Our pols aren’t serious about anything in this state. It’s sad. I loved growing up here. I love the food and most of the people. Our politicians are the biggest hindrance in this state. They literally don’t give a shite about anything but maintaining power in their little po dunk district and cow towing to few special interest who care to even lobby in this state. You can have urban(ish) centers like BR and NOLA and still have excellent public education. We just don’t care to.

we moved to katy from youngsville in 2013
the school my kids went to (tompkins) was brand new
it is a $115 million showplace with 3,750 kids tompkins hs
lafayette parish was about to build southside hs for $60 million in 2013 to alleviate overcrowding at Comeaux (i went to comeaux and my niece and nephew go to southside now) southside hs
southside was completed and almost immediately they had an enrollment spike and the school was overcrowded
the size and scope of tompkins vs southside physical footprint is almost laughable
in lafayette we would have sent our kids to ESA or STM for HS, the money I would have paid in tuition in louisiana I got to put into a house in katy. everybody talks about property taxes in texas vs state income tax in louisiana but what they miss is the value of after tax costs in texas vs after tax costs in louisiana.

Cue the Facebook moms “2,000 is too many for one school”

Same mistake Ascension Parish is making by building another HS instead of just taking all that make and expanding the three on the east side.

I’d like to see Central have some sustained success before I say they are a successful program

was talking about the success of their community school district initiative

If a school is being accused of recruiting, look at the state of the programs of the accusers. Tells you all you need to know

If a school is actually recruiting, everyone else (regardless of the state of their program) knows they’re doing it

The whole “they have boosters giving scholarships” is non-sense. And if that happens, it’s a major violation
How many U-High tuition bills, and apartment leases for eligibility did the Mr. “Get it Done” booster take care of when his son was playing??

all of them
just read this on facebook, this is pretty wild
“Heard an interesting story this weekend about a certain dominant wide receiver from Zachary. Played at another school last school year 2022-2023, shows up on the summer league basketball circuit wearing Zachary basketball shorts….
Long story short, LHSAA starts investigating and finds obvious evidence of illegal recruiting to come play basketball at Zachary. Ruled ineligible to play “basketball” at Zachary in 2023-2024, but is allowed to play football at Zachary in 2023-2024 because and I quote, “no evidence was found that he was recruited to play football.” Go read that again.
There has never been a LHSAA ruling like this of any kind to my knowledge nor is there any rule in the handbook that allows this that I (or anyone else) is aware of. In the words of one of my coaching buddies, “you’re either pregnant or you are not…”
Strange days, and not a very good look. Most fans just want consistency. This is not an example of ruling consistently. And for the record: I have no idea if he was recruited or not. But I would think he should 100% eligible or 0% eligible.“

many catholic schools are using the state voucher program as well, in nearly every diocese. LINK
ED White and St. Charles are the only 2 Catholic schools on that list that are good at football

Long story short, he's been playing AAU basketball for a Zachary based team since middle or Elementary school. The Zachary High basketball coach was the coach of the AAU team . Because of that relationship the lhsaa decided he couldn't play basketball at Zachary

Never heard of a transfer student being ineligible for one sport and eligible in another sport at the same school

family made a bonafide move to a new school district, which upon investigation it was discovered his summer coach was at said school. Because of that relationship player was ruled ineligible for that sport per existing rules. Had illegal recruiting been discovered he would not have been eligible for any sport not just one. The offending school would have also been sanctioned.

Time to open up a tennis academy, and start recruiting 6’6” 320 pound tennis players. Sure they won’t be able to play tennis, but they’ll be perfectly eligible to play LT.
That makes sense right?
