Elite athletes competing in 1A mainly for Kentwood.
27-14 Kentwood at the half. Nice 99 yard, 12 play drive to end the half there by Kentwood.

Is it just that Amite/Kentwood are better coached? Have better players? More money in the city? Just strange to see them doing so well for now decades and some wish they had a quarter of that consistency.
They have a gene pool that doesn’t leave. Athletes breed athletes in tradition based programs.
Kentwood has had four head coaches since 1969 (integration). All of them went to the state championship game multiple times.
Amite has had four head coaches since 1982. All of them have taken multiple teams to the dome.

From 2006-2015 Amite went from Currier to Foster to Powell as head coaches.

I’ll give you the coaching one though Indy had Baglio to Carona for decades to I don’t know who now...though I fully admit they relied more on talent than play calling. And I also know the population trends for Indy haven’t been great either, hurting the talent pool there.
Loranger....well I just threw a bone out there.

Any fellow coaches went to the game today? Someone told me we weren't allowed to use the coach's card to get into the games. Can someone tell me if that's true? It's not that serious, but I'm just curious to know.

This actually seems like a pretty good game!

Just left the STM coaches/dad's luncheon. Lot's of confidence going into tomorrow's game. Coach Sav said he's gotten lot's of texts and calls from other coaches around the state saying this is the first time they've ever pulled for STM.

Ascension Catholic's RB Jai Williams is a beast. They tied up the game on their first attempted pass after running it the entire drive.

I've been watching Cook's teams for many years. They pound the ball and make you commit to stopping the run, then hit you with a play action long pass for a a TD. I've seen it many many times.
Like clockwork. Coaching/teaching discipline, disciplined/intelligent players, and disciplined coaching.

quote:And ND had 5 fricking turnovers. That's why it's called Any Given Sunday...anything can happen. I am thoroughly interested to see Indest's game plan knowing his qb can't throw and ND excels at stopping the run. That's why I mentioned that I bet we see a ton of trick/gimmicky plays from CHNI...sometimes they actually work though
Indest knew it would be them and ND in the finals again if you don't think he will come out with a completely different scheme tonight (just like last year) then you are mistaken. He even said after the first game they kept it simple in the second half to not show their hand for later on. It will not be a blowout. Cook is too used to choking in the dome lol
