first is the field goal david akers missed where he got the running into the kicker call. it looked like to me he hopped down once he saw he hooked it and flopped onto the Baltimore guy. the refs need to get together on that call and speak up if they think the kicker embellished it, and pick up the flag

second was frisco's second timeout in the second half. the first one in hindsight was okay, bc they regained the momentum and turned a blowout into a game in a short stretch.

but now it's 2nd and goal at the 5 after an incomplete pass. this was jim's biggest blunder. he must have thought he was gonna win it or lose it right there. the clock wasn't running and was at 1:55. you just had the two minute warning.

let's say you don't use the timeout and you don't score the TD. Assuming you ran pass plays that were incomplete, B-More gets it back on their own 5 (or 10, if they took that timeout to guard against the DOG). you have two timeouts, and if they go 3 and out, you have maybe 40 seconds with no timeouts. Hard, but you have a chance somewhat.

Instead, B-More ran it down to 0:12, SMARTLY took the safety, and that was all she wrote. Ginn could have fair caught it but he probably had a better chance returning it than the 9ers had of a hail mary

He had to call the timeout because his QB wasn't going to get the play off. You are right that it was a huge blunder by the 49ers though that really cost them.

Should have fair caught it and tried for the free kick.

And the way they did it - every BAL player was holding on that play to run off more time. Holding in the endzone is a safety anyway so might as well do it. Very smart.

We were talking about that scenario, but then they kicked it to the 20. Not even Legatron is kicking it 90 yards.

The biggest blunder by the 9ers' IMO was not a single read option on the last 4 plays.

I think a missed holding call on the kickoff TD return was a huge missed call

Yeah but 49 was an a-hole all night. He deserved to be held.

Should have run QB keeper on the 2pt play

Personally I thought the timeout on the 2nd down play at the goal line was the biggest play in the game no one talks about.

That okay was a walk-in TD if they get it. They had that full-house QB sweep on, and they had the numbers bigtime. He would've jogged into the endzone. It was sooooo open.

True, but that was one of the most obvious holding calls I have ever seen.

Whoever that Raven player was basically performing the heimlich maneuver on him

Niner secondary needs to take the most heat specifically Culliver. He was horrible all night. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a move to get Revis

Completely neglected to mention that 29, the DB who was making plays for the majority of the game for Baltimore, was the guy who shoved the ref in the first quarter and would have been ejected in any other game but the Super Bowl.

From 85 yards?!. . . He punted that ball down to at least the 35, if memory serves. That would've made it an 85-yard kick. Impossible.

I couldn't believe that. He wasn't even flagged on that play. That may have been the most shocking no-call of the game IMO.

agreed its only a 5 yard penalty and the time on the clock was more important because they could have gotten the ball back with a minute left and great field position had they had two timeouts...two possessions instead of one...5 yards is not worth trading a possession for

It was actually to the 20. Way too far to kick. If it was the 35 he would've had a chance because it would be a free kick without a rush.

What are you talking about? That would be at least a 75 yarder!
