Exactly. The league negated the center and GS exploited that. The league is now going to bring back centers because of the trouble GS had with OKC's length. The league hasn't come all the way around because they still want stretch 5s but they want 5s now. Eventually someone will put together a Ewing/Oakley/Mason type 3,4,5 to muscle GS and see how that works.

3 of the top 5 shooters in the NBA are on that team. its not going to be nearly as bad as people think. Durant played with Westbrook, he can play with anyone

do you really think Curry is going to be mad to go back to only scoring 23-24 ppg? lol frick

GS is going to miss Bogut desperately. We saw in the playoffs that it's not Draymond Green who is the key defender for GS. No, it was Bogut. GS's interior defense went down with Bogut which is why they didn't win the championship. Now, their interior defense woes have worsened. Yeah, this new GS will score a lot but they will be allowing too many points.

All sports are cyclical. Nothing new can be invented now because too many smart people have spent many night over decades thinking about tactics.

The run and shoot came came to football in the 90's and then left. When it came back it was called the spread. The NFL has gotten away from fullbacks and a feature back but they will come back around. Everyone wants a basketball player at defensive end now. Pretty soon someone will go back to bulk at DE and have success followed by everyone following suit.

It all swings back and forth.

The NBA went big and GS destroyed that. Muscle gave GS trouble so now that will be the trend in the NBA.

It's all cyclical.

The heat with Lebron thought they were gonna get decent players on cheap deals

LOL...The Heat paid Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Shane Battier and Chris Anderson less than they were paying Mario Chalmers. Allen went from making $8 million in Boston to just over $3 million in Miami. Lewis was making $13.7 million in New Orleans and signed with Miami for $1.3 million. Battier went from $7.3 million in Memphis to $2.4 million in Miami. Andersen went from $3.4 million in Denver to $540K in Miami.

They are going to get abused at the rim defensively.

So you are saying that Barnes is much more of a tremendous rebounder than KD. Overall, defensive rebounding hasn't been an issue since the death lineup's incarnation.

By whom? The finals against the Cavs is literally the first time we've seen the death lineup struggle for an extended period of time. No one had an answer for it for two years.

While all of this is true, how many teams muscle includes Lebron James? Now, take the original death lineup and replace Barnes, and his wide open misses, with the 2nd or 3rd best player in the association.

They don't need Draymond jacking up 20 footers like he did at times this past season. That's for sure.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the +/- still ended up in the death lineup's favor by the end of the OKC series.

Nah.

If anything the revolving doors of rule changes and CBA agreements have spurred the need for adaptation and optimization that drives changes and increases in efficiency within the new parameters.

When a new CBA is signed and a new set of rules emerge we will have the next Tom Thibodeau that exploits the change in defensive rules to create a number of new strategies that give a temporary competitive advantage until they become commonplace on every team.

i won't say KD will provide "rim protection" but adding a 7-footer to replace a 6-8 pure swingman is pretty big

Durant is 6'9"
