That’s right, after losing in the first round of the NBA Playoffs for the first time in his career, LeBron used his postgame presser to market his upcoming Space Jam film, working in a corny reference to the “Goon Squad” when asked about his summer plans, particularly how they pertain to the Olympics in Japan:

“I think I’m going to play for the Tune Squad this Summer instead of the Olympics. That’s what I’m going to focus on, trying to beat the Monstars — or the “Goon Squad”, we call them now,” LeBron said when asked about his Summer plans.

“Didn’t have much success versus the [Phoenix] Suns, so now I am gearing my attention to the Goon Squad here in July. I’m going to let the ankle rest for about a month and then I’m going to gear up with Lola [Bunny], Taz, Granny, Bugs, and the rest of the crew”.

Admittedly, I haven't seen the whole interview. While I am sure he does care, it sure seems like this dude doesn't seem to give a shite that he just got bounced in round one.

Clip in the link above.

Figured since this board loves/hates Lebron so much, this thread would eventually happen here.

Like someone on here mentioned, all his book reading pics seem to be on the 1st few pages.

I doubt that great philosopher has ever actually read a book from cover to cover.

I used to enjoy watching the NBA but I haven’t watched a game in a few years. The players are as unlikeable as it gets. Lebron being the most unlikeable of them all.

He knows there isn't much time left and needs a movie/sponsorship career after basketball to maintain his lifestyle. If the movie bombs the prospects for this dim significantly. I enjoy hating on him as much as the next guy but I can't really blame him for this. I'm probably giving him way too much credit and he was told to do this by his handlers.

He also couldn't help himself and tried to take credit for helping make Devin Booker's great night about himself, while Devin Booker paid his respects to Kobe.

quote:

"I love everything about D-Book," James said. "We've had numerous conversations in the past. When you want to be legendary in this game, you've got to continue to improve not only your game, but also as a man. All the conversations we've had, I can tell he's soaked them up and is using them to his advantage."

quote:

"Honestly, I was thinking about Kobe and the conversations we had," Booker said. "About what we went through, and the postseason, and being legendary and taking the steps to get there. Seeing that 8 and 24 up there, with the lighting Staples has, it's like it was shining down on you. I know he was here tonight, and I know he was proud."

It’ll be a great movie and plot twist if MJ played the roll of daddy and is the secret surprise player on the Goon Squad.

What a fricking douchebag. How about a bit of humility

Are you saying that Lebron James won’t be able to afford his lifestyle after his basketball career is over? The guy is going to be worth like a billion dollars soon.

Or are you saying he won’t remain famous without movies and sponsorships? That’s equally as dumb.

I was thinking last night this ego maniac is going to find a way to be on tv as an analyst or commentator. He won’t be able to leave and allow himself to be forgotten in the slightest.

There's a possibility that the NBA Finals ends on July 22 which is absolutely ridiculous. I wonder if some of the players are secretly relieved that they don't have play basketball for that long and with basically only one month of summer break.

Now that’s fricking funny. Booker doesn’t give a frick about you Lebitch, he remembers conversations with a real legend instead.

My musings were more from an egotistical sense rather than a monetary one. Lebron wants the spotlight and isn't going to let go of it easily. Problem is, he sucks at PR and broad appeal. So he needs PR success to maintain his place in the limelight. His attempts to do so will be entertaining. Probably not in the way he wants them to be.

My concern is that he may eventually try to make his way into politics. And people are stupid enough to vote for someone like him.

Yea this postgame kind of solidifies what I've thought.

Lebron definitely mentally checked out of that series once AD went down. He likely doesn't even care about seriously trying for another championship. He's in coast mode now.

Honestly I wouldn't even doubt it if he dropped a huge bombshell by just retiring sometime this summer.
