I like the show. When the show gets political, whatever. I don’t mind hearing political opinions that are different than mine.

But unlike most of this board, I’m not a snowflake ego gets offended because a player supports BLM or whatever.

After his reaction to them laying off Coty, I
Figured this would be the end.

Curious where the show ends up.

Yeah but you'll have to wade through a veritable shite river of interminable dreck to get there. Will it be worth it? I'm sure I'll see the best things he does in twitter clips without having to hear 45 minutes of MSNBC.

Honestly his show was much better to me when it was just local. Also don’t feel like it was nearly as political but maybe nothing really was at that time. Feel like they played a lot more games and it was goofier and just more fun overall.

His show was awesome a decade ago.

This for sure. Even 5 years ago it was amazing.

It's not nearly what it was at it's height, but it's still way better than fukin greeny or cowherd or just about anything else you can name in the sports talk space.

It still isn't overly political, everyone complaining about it only listen to the snippets that circulate on social media and don't actually listen to the full show.

I was fine with Sage taking over for Smith and Jemele, because that show was terrible.

But LOL if she were to get a radio show in the same timeslot as Lebatard's show.

The ratings would be non-existant.

Wherever he goes, I hope he takes his crew with him. I enjoyed his show.

The bigger story is the demise of ESPN as a whole and how they along with the vast majority of networks are not sustainable for cable through the end of this decade. They are replacing him with a boring Greenberg who has a job because of nepotism rather than market interest. The huge sports contracts will eventually go bust and how the average consumer gets sports will transfer to the internet age of decentralization. Corporate media is losing their grip on power and it will change our world and the sports world for the better.

Well said and this should and hopefully also apply to the news. Anyone who cares search there are real news outlets and real journalists out there that are becoming more prevalent.

It’s very true. I’d say every other time I put on Dan he’s crying about something political. The other times it’s funny.

I mean, Dan’s commercial bump sound bite is Popovich saying “We live in a racist country”. I mean...come on.

They actually did some funny stuff at times. The zoo guy was good. The days Greg Cote was on was usually good. They did some stuff with Kenny G that was pretty funny. I like Stugotz. I mean sometimes you had to change the channel if Dan got started on race but I thought it was miles better than anything else currently on ESPN radio.

But the thing is Dan is at his best when they are all having fun and making fun of how serious people take sports. That is the best version of the Lebatard show.

ESPN was able to keep his wackjob politics in check a little bit at times.

When he has his own deal there will be no one to keep him in check. It will be at least 50% wackjob unhinged loon politics and just a much worse product for it.

Agree with this. I loved the show going back to local radio here in south FL. But after George Floyd, I couldn’t take it. He was doing like a race baiting victory lap finger wagging at white people. I completely shut it down after listening pretty much every day.

and it was this the majority of the time. People act like dan spent 2.5 hours lecturing and only 30 minutes was dedicated to other stuff when largely it was the other way around

I don't love Dan, but sports media needs guys like him and Kornheiser who don't worship jocks and aren't hot take shows.

I will always appreciate the people who recognize how stupid and flawed our sports media is
