It’s a hockey stick stage but the brutality of Ventoux makes it a great stage. Really weird mountain with not many climbs nearby from the direction they will be traveling. Guess they call it the giant of Provence for a reason. It sticks out in that region like a wedding penis. Let’s hope the wind isn’t crazy that day on the mountain. I think they have shortened a stage before for high winds. I might be wrong, but I think the mountain has recorded a wind speed of almost 200 miles per hour. It really is a strange place but deep in cycling lore. Should be fun.
ETA this quote:
"The Ventoux is a god of Evil, to which sacrifices must be made. It never forgives weakness and extracts an unfair tribute of suffering."

This has been a wild stage. Pogi just hit the deck but looks ok!

He may feel that tomorrow though. I'm surprised they waited on him. Fair play and all but not sure I would have.

I think if it was a crash where he was at fault, you dont wait, but Johanneson came straight across his front wheel.

I am disappointed that Tourmalet is not a finishing point but just the first mountain of a stage. For me the Tourmalet and Ventoux have to be finishing points.

That sounds like something Marc Madiot would say.

I normally would be saying OK boys the Tour starts tomorrow but this one has been crazy from the gun. Hoping for fireworks.

If Poggy's shoulder is fine I expect him the get revenge for 2022 on the Hautacam. I bet he climbs it in 33 mins putting out ~7w/kg. Some of you may remember 2022 when Woat led out Jonas on the climb to put the dagger in Tadjey. Not often you see a green jersey leading out the maillot jaune on a ~8% climb.

Pog is a monster that seems too good to be true. Good ride from Lipowitz. Remco really did fight back today and showed some metal. The tour yellow is gone save a crash or illness, but the fight for the minor podium places will be the battles to watch.

That was very similar to what Postal did on Alpe D'Huez in 2001 with the way Narvaez went all out for a short time to launch the attack like Chechu did for Lance.

It's like biopassport racing never existed.

Lance made a comment as such on The Move today, especially the ‘Thank You!” part when mentioning a rival team trying to win but burned their guys early.
Went back and watched Matteo’s post race interview from today after listening to the podcast and agree, that was brutally honest and man Visma wasted a Tour.
