Will never understand people who give this much of a frick about high school football

ND tried to get Josh Reed to transfer.

St Francis here in Baltimore did what LCA is doing. I grew up in Maryland and then one day, boom, St Francis was crushing everyone. Never even heard of them. We are seeing a lot of these pop up in both football and basketball.

a decade ago, westminster recruited all of port barre's players. a few years later, LCA recruited all of their players along with other surrounding talent and voila.

ND combs over all the neighboring parishes and tries to take guys from the small towns that aren’t superstars but if they would stay at their local school would make that school great but instead they go to ND and it just hurts the local public schools
This made my head hurt. Northside was a dumpster fire when Shelvin left. As another poster mentioned, there are Catholic middle schools in Church Point, Rayne, Crowley, and Jennings, but no Catholic High school. It’s not rocket science.

How do they do it? The parents that pay tuition are unknowingly paying for other kids who get to attend for free. The same kids attending for free, are taking their son’s playing time.
HS football would be so much more interesting if people stayed at their local school. Things like Broadmore kids upsetting nationally ranked John Curtis, twice, with kids from the neighborhood is a story that will live forever. Winning with scholarship players is just buying a trophy.

Parents are doing everything they can to get their kids out of public schools - especially in the metro areas.
The recruiting narrative is such nonsense. Public schools are cited for recruiting violations way more than privates. The LHSAA is set up to give public schools every single advantage under the Sun and families still flock to private schools.
At the end of the day, it has less to do with athletics and everything to do with organizations.
There is a reason why community schools and ISDs have no problem competing.

No family is sending their kids to Broadmoor unless they are absolutely forced to.
And it’s about to get worse (or better depending on your perspective) because of the school choice bill that is in the LA legislature.

LCA has stolen some kids that would normally go to Carencro & Acadiana.
Once they lose Jujuan Johnson after this year they won’t be as good

Some parents will gladly pay for talent to come in to get their kids’ team competitive

Not really
Its a booster collective. Boosters find the poor athletic kids at local public schools and tell their families they will pay their tuition to the private school. Tuition is paid by those boosters, not the school.
Some of my high school buddies do this. They have contacted me to help pay for some kids’ tuition. I have made it clear I give 0 fricks about our high school winning football games.
Basically all catholic schools in this state do this. That Notre Dame dude in this thread is delusional AF.

They are a private school. What is wrong with recruiting players?

I can get it if they're currently a player, coach, or have a kid on the current team they're trying to take up for.
Other than that, yeah...don't understand it.

They're not going anywhere. The backup QB, Braylon Walker, isn't Johnson, but he can play. He'll be a senior.
Stud RB and a good WR will be seniors. Jalen Noel and Carlos O'Brien
Chris Helaire, the DB who had three interceptions vs. Teurlings Catholic, will be a senior.

He had plenty of schools to go to in Lafayette he just choice ND by coincidence give me a break. It’s not just ND that does it they all do it. They use the “Catholic education” as a ploy it’s been working for decades. No doubt some people send their kids for a Catholic education but let’s not act like they all go there just for that

They tried to get my nephew to go there for basketball. They offered my brother tuition discount for all three of his kids. They didn't go.

Notre Dame definitely doesn't go recruiting in South Crowley, that's for sure. They have a reputation to uphold.
They do, however, need to get their own damn stadium.
