So for years Trahan bitches that the LHSAA does nothing about recruiting.... then when they do - it's aimed at two guys he's friends with he gets pissed.... Very typical Nola/Catholic league superiority complex issues... Especially when he has ranted about the 1a through 3a schools voting for the split - when he knows damned well what caused the split is 7 4a and 5a schools - one of whom is near and dear to him...

he can go in dry all he wants..... and there is more to the story on the QB

in both cases rules were broken and enforced....don't like the punishment don't break the rule... don't like the rule work to change the rule....

lost any respect I had for trahan....

lest we forget when JC first went to the catholic league somebody in "the leauge" reported them for illegal practices.... yet the LHSAA caught 4 other catholic league teams holding illegal practices.....Not JC, Shaw and Jesuit....

Ken Trahan is not the most credible person on these matters given his Catholic League favoritism

Especially when both coaches involved are friends of his......

Of course he didn't hesitate to throw Tierney under the bus years ago.... but he had megaphone envy....

again there is much more to the QB story.. There is a reason several other schools balked at him...

It’s more strict than that

A portion of the rule from LHSAA:

quote:

2.1 ILLEGAL RECRUITING

2.1.1 Recruitment of students or attempted recruiting of students for athletic purposes, regardless of their residence, is a gross violation of the spirit and philosophy of these By-Laws and is expressly prohibited. 2.1.2 “Athletic recruiting” is defined as the use of undue influence and/or special inducement by anyone connected directly or indirectly with an LHSAA school in an attempt to encourage, induce, pressure, urge or entice a prospective student of any age to transfer to or retain a student at a school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.

Right I know the rules, and I know what constitutes legal recruiting, I went to a public HS and coached at private HS’s for ten years. Seen both sides of it

btw the overwhelming majority of recruiting in both private and public schools is done by parents not anyone directly connected to a LHSAA school

One App, is a joke.

If you want a student you have no problem getting them, there are ways of giving preference.
A couple of years ago Landry-Walker's coach told me they were getting a couple out of state basketball transfers. It was in April, they won the title the following year.

I know that is true and many of the better players (and their parents) shop themselves around as much as anyone "recuits" them.

Also, the players themselves, particularly in basketball, try to recruit their friends. Honestly, that is really understandable, who doesn't prefer to have their friends as teammate vs opponents.

The advent of Schools of Choice and specialty academies have given the larger publics advantages thy never had before in that sort of subtle recruiting. I wonder how many football players at Acadiana High (My HS alma mater) are in the Business Academy and would otherwise not go to Acadiana.

I don't know if that helps underperforming schools but it has to helps winning schools stay winning schools.

Yeah, this one is especially embarrassing. And shows absolutely no depth of intellect. Because you will notice that those same coaches spend zero time being responsible and dutiful in promoting their schools to the 135 lb. white, asthmatic, nerd with stellar test scores. Odd how they only seem to promote their schools to the parents of skilled athletes.

Are you saying that Private schools do not recruit or offer incentives to high academic achievers? Are you insinuating that the fricking football coach should be the one to do this?

So it does not pertain to students not already enrolled in high school?

If you got to the link you will see that it actually does. There is more verbiage regarding that as well.

A big problem is people that don't know the rules spout off about what the lhsaa should or shouldn't do.....

They are enforcing the rules......

Not to start a new thread, or anything, but Kenny's old buddy Ed Daniels wrote a piece for this past weekend's Clarion Herald defending his ol' buddy J.T. Curtis. He talks about rumor, innuendo, and how so many people come up to him and ask him how he can work with and be friends with Curtis and how J.T. cheats so much.

The gist of the article is if you don't have proof and are willing to put it all on the line, don't mention it to him any more.

WOW. What terrible self-awareness, and piss poor timing given the Mark Bonis and Salt. situations.

I just looked, there's no link yet on the Clarion's website, and if need be, I'll see about scanning it or something.
