analytics outthink themselves sometimes and are great tools for projecting things going forward.

they’re mathematical formulas that try to value a hypothetical (different parks, different pitchers, different defenses, etc.)

measurables use actual on field results.
you know the things that determines outcomes of ball games.

and prime Jr was as good as anyone to ever play.

His actual on field results were plain and simply better than Trout’s.

Trout ('12 - '19)

Griffey was in the heart of the steroids era and spanned two expansions…

I'm hard to come up with a definitive better pure ballplayer than him, just as far as natural overall talent and ability.

Musial is for sure an all time great but the whole double all star thing in 59, 60, 61, and 62 has always pissed me off.

You cannot be a 24 time all star in 22 seasons

No.

Griffey was a top-5 player all-time in his prime before the injuries set in.

Just how old do you think people on this board are?

Stan Musial stopped playing in 1963.

A lot of people aren’t going to get that champ.

Larry Fitzgerald has more career tackles than career drops.

you don't have to be old enough to have seen a guy play to know his nickname.

DiMaggio quit playing before my dad was even born, but I know he's the Yankee Clipper or Joltin Joe.

I wasn't born until a couple years after Hank Aaron retired, but I know he was Hammer.

or in football I know Mean Joe is Joe Green despite being too young to ever remember him playing.

or Kenny Stabler was The Snake

no he wasnt. i watched both, prime griffey better than trout

example...take 4 best seasons, where grout won 2 mvps and compare

hell take 5 seasons

even ages 21-30 Junior wins

I dont give a frick about War.

griffey also way better in the field, 9 golden gloves in that time frame, 10 overall for the kid.

any way you slice it, other than WAR...the kid wins because the kid was a better player and he was clean in the when everyone else was juicing and he was facing juiced pitchers every night

yall can frick off with any mantra that the KID isnt better than trout

now barry greater than all but the kid is top 8 ever, maybe top 5 and prolly the overall most natural player, maybe only second the mantle.

Without question. He’s still top 10 all time despite the injuries.
