Kinda makes the coin toss moot in the Postseason. Which depending on who you ask MIGHT be a good thing

Can't remember the changes - so even if first team scores TD both teams still get ball?

The FG was the right move, to much could go wrong if they ran another play.

You have the best QB in the league

If you don't trust him to get a fade or something done or thrown away in 6 seconds there's something wrong

Yes, unless it is a score by the defense. After both teams get a chance to posses, then next score wins.

If both teams get the ball, wouldn’t it be like CFB where you want to get the ball second if you win the toss so you know what you need?

Would it make more sense to be on defense first now?

I guess not because if you punt, you want them to have bad field position?

I'm glad the OT rules have been changed. Id hate for the Superbowl to end on first possession.

So if SF doesn’t score, does it become sudden death?

Overtime rules in the postseason consist of as many 15-minute periods as are necessary until there is a winner, instead of the single 10-minute overtime period in the regular season. Both teams will now get at least one possession, even if the team that has the first possession scores a touchdown.Jan 9, 2024

Why in the blue frick would you take the ball?

Seems like you'd want to know whether you need a FG or a TD to keep the game going. So why in the frick would you go on offense first?

Great job by the 49ers to elect to receive. Defense is gassed and reeling.

Because if both teams score the team that possessed the ball first gets first opportunity to win.
