That is a well-reasoned response.

Kareem is quite clearly the most accomplished basketball player in the history of the world. But let’s be honest, though he absolutely should be, for whatever reason he’s not in the current conversation. It’s only been Jordan v Lebron after the Cavs won a few years ago.

If you want to count his rings remember this man put up 12/4 in limited minutes 1988 Finals.
Even Kareem gives thanks to Magic for revitalizing the latter part of his career despite struggling ( team wise) with future HOFers like Goodrich ,Wilkes ,Dantley and solid guards like Nixon in the 70's( his peak).

I think Kareem is the GOAT because he had to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes every night...

Persuasive arguments for Kareem, along with the NBA stats comparison posted under yours. I only really remember old Kareem but see that he also made a lot of All Defensive teams. I have no concept of how athletic he was or how much he changed shots (like a young & mid-career Shaq or other dominant big men).

Kareem played in an era where big guys were spindly, and not overtly physical. Once Olajuwan, Shaq, etc came on the scene, Kareen left the GOAT discussion

Here Olajuwan continually dunks on Kareem in the paint

LINK

Here Wilt says Kareen doesn't cut it with the athletic big men. At 4 min mark he says the center position of Kareems era was garbage.
