He is clearly still an effective pitcher.

I just find it odd that so many people throw their arms up in the air about the juiced balls, but nobody really cared when everyone was juicing and we had baws hitting 60-70 home runs; a number that hasn’t even been close to being touched despite the ‘juiced balls’.

They’re pissed because they believe the league is actively lying to both the players and the fans which builds distrust.

Like I said earlier. I don’t care that the league changed the balls. I care that they did it in secret and are now lying about it.

I guess I just don’t really care about them not admitting it, but I do see how that’s an issue for players.

Let’s go with this then....

Disclaimer: I don’t actually believe this to be the case but I could see the worry.

If the MLB is lying about the quality of the balls then what’s to stop them from choosing when and where to deploy the new balls in an attempt to build story line postseason matches or even more compelling division races?

Once fans start to doubt the integrity of the game the sport is practically dead

Giancarlo Stanton hit 59 just a few years ago Yellich will get close to that too if he can keep up his pace.

Also the league as a whole is hitting more HRs. It’s not that there’s a few dudes with insane power hitting 92 mph fastballs (Pitchers are also throwing harder to hit balls now too) like 1998-2001.

The balls aren’t “juiced” per se.

There was an article on the Athletic not too long ago in the changes from last years ball to this year, findings:

-The seams are lower and wider
-The leather is smoother
-The ball is more round

All of those things individually don’t mean much, but together they create a much lower air drag which means the ball flies further

The other problem with secretly changing the ball is it has changed how the game is played. HRs are much more valued now and players are swinging for the fences. Teams have drafted and built entire farm systems based on thinking the game was played one way (post steroid era baseball, think 2015 Royals) vs how the game is played now. It's a fundamental shift centered around an equipment change.

I don't even think it makes the game better. Sure, more HRs, but much less action on the base paths, zero steals, the running aspect of the game is gone. It's boring K, walk, HR baseball.

And they juiced it a little extra for the London series

I was saying the same thing to a buddy of mine. When a two game series in a potential new market features 50 (!) total runs, you don't have to wait for the lab results to reach a verdict.

I figured the MLB would do something to avoid a 2-1 pitchers duel, but I was absolutely convinced the balls were juiced as I was watching the London series.

All it takes is him keeping a ball from this year and cutting one of the im sure 100s he has in his collection to compare. Show us, Justin.

This doesnt even make sense. There is a clear correlation between a drastic spike in homeruns over the last few years, but especially this year and we’re only halfway through. Multiple players on trajectory to hit just that, 60+ homeruns. What does your statement even mean because thats exactly what is on track to happen.

Maybe he shouldn’t play in a little league ballpark.

Funny you say this, but there were more homers hit in Arlington in 2018, 2017, & 2016. Actually Minute Maid hasn't even been top 10 in homers the last 3 years.

This year Astros are 12th, Rangers tied for 15th (Yankee Stadium 20th)

Rangers ballpark still has had far more homeruns hit there than at Minute Maid if you want to include this year since 2016. He sounds stupid calling Minute Maid a little league park when that park isn't even in top 10 in homers.
