I’m still waiting for someone to tell me why and how Williams will be an upgrade as a rookie over an experienced Fields…

I mean what do you think Fields ceiling is? A decent NFL QB? A guy that in a few years after you pay him a lot he can maybe get you to the playoffs?

Fields doesn't have a high ceiling and he's had enough starts now to tell you that his floor is actually pretty low too. He's not going to get you where you want to be.

You might not be high on Williams and that's fine, but a lot of people are and he is one of the higher rated QB's coming out of college in the past 5+ years. He might not give you more right away than what a year four Fields would, but he certainly has more upside.

Williams is only a rookie for one season. Williams comes in already a better passer than the “experienced” Fields.

You could trade down, get some weapons and graft Penix in the 2nd.

You have a top pick in a draft with 2 legit QB prospects. This should be a no brainer decision to trade Fields and get you a new QB.
Caleb Williams is a bust, and Maye idk, if he’s so great, yet what has he done though. Daniels will either be a boom or bust. Why not keep Fields and continue to build around him with your two top picks and all that cap space.

would say, his rookie year was basically a wash. Nagy didn't cater an offense to his strengths or help him out at all. I'm not sure any QB could have gotten any better in that situation.

Year 2, they were actively tanking with hardly any talent. Also they did not cater the offense for him until mid season.

This year Moore was awesome and I like Kmet, but they need more weapons. Also some interior O-line upgrades.

This. I don't view Fields as a third year QB because of all the crap and turmoil he's been through. This year they finally started putting some guys around him and he's starting to show what he can do. Need more weapons.

Keeping him may work in the Bears favor because if he performs next year you can then start talking long term but he won't command a monster contract. The circumstances might work in the Bears favor

As for this year, trade down, more picks. Get another 1st rounder next year and if Fields bust cut him loose and draft a QB next year.

The Bears need more draft capital to really beef up the roster.

Yeah honestly the thing about Fields that scares me more than anything is how reckless he plays. When he is at his best, he is running around making insane backyard off-script plays. He’s a nightmare for DCs to game-plan against. However, this style of play takes major punishment on the body. I don’t want my franchise QB for the next decade taking the shots he takes.

Not just that, but year 1/rookie Williams compared to year 4 Fields is an entirely irrelevant exercise.

Because just saying "Caleb Williams is a bust" does not mean that Caleb Williams is a bust

Bears fans who watch the Bears every week overwhelmingly want to keep Fields, for whatever that’s worth.

As someone who has watched every Bears game with Bears fans, and most of them at bars in the Chicago area, this isn't true.

Fields has a vocal legion of defenders, but they aren't the majority at this point. He has statistically been a worse passer than Mitch Trubisky in nearly every category.

or you can say intelligence to play the game right, but that would create a controversy concerning the "Black athlete" if you say that. So, you can't use that vernacular, but I agree with what you're saying.
There are over 200 Division 1 predominantly White Institutions & the overwhelming majority White Coaches( those jobs are not for the Black "hands") & they can't produce or " develop " skilled White Qb's ? I hear about their " development " , but now it's being exposed for the bs it is.
