In Pels Talk a few months back, when discussing the viability of building around Zion given his games missed, Embiid was cited. To which I responded, what has Embiid ever done?

Embiid has yet to reach a conference finals. It is not his fault the Sixers fumbled the process…as Tatum, Brown and Bridges(among others such as Ingram and Booker) could all be teammates of his.

But Embiid is hurt every playoffs…so what needs to change in Philly?

If you base it off of importance to team, Jokic is your MVP as well.

Jokic is surrounded by lottery picks. The Heat lost their most skilled scorer (Herro) his backup (Oladipo) and behind Jimmy fricking Butler took out the 1 seed in 5 games, the Knicks in 6 and are up 1-0 against Boston in the Conference Finals. They are 5-2 on the road with a bunch of undrafted players. There isn't a player more important to his team than Jimmy Butler.

They were a play in team and lost a home play in game to Atlanta. They nearly lost to the bulls and didn’t make the playoffs at all. they were mediocre in the regular season. mvp is a regular season award and team mediocrity should be an automatic disqualify for the MVP award. win 55 games and he has a case.

Jokic lost first round last year with a injured team, to the west champions. 2022 lost in the second round to the eventual NBA champions with a injured team that year. 2021 with a healthy team got to the west finals, lost to the eventual Champion.
Never has a Jokic lead team lost to any team they were favored to beat, but has upset some teams were Denver was the underdog. Jokic's career playoffs stats are 27.3 ppg 12.0 rbpg 7.2 apg I don't want to hear any BS about him never making a deep run because when he has a healthy team he does, like this year. Embiid and cry while holding the MVP trophy he doesn't deserve while watching Jokic hoist the NBA finals MVP in a few weeks

It’s clearly too soon to compare Jokic to the all time great centers.

That said, this Jokic plus Kobe is waltzing to a title. I hope Jokic can finish this with a trophy because he is playing at seldom seen levels for a big man and I’m enjoying the show.

The point is the other poster said jokic’s lack of playoff success was the reason voters didn’t pick him this year, then did pick someone with even less playoff success.

This happens after you win your MVPs. I’m not saying voters should do this, but some of them absolutely do. Same thing will happen with Embiid next year.

Jokic didn't win because this board cares more about the MVP than he does. He just didn't go for it the last couple of months in the season. Embiid and Morey have been whining about it for the past 2 seasons. It's a regular season award so it's not like Embiid wasn't deserving, but it's no grand conspiracy.

I’m not saying Jokic didn’t deserve mvp, but guys 0 people would question were better than him in their prime never won 3 in a row.

Jordan
Magic
Kobe
Magic
Kareem

Never won 3 times in a row.
LeBron is a weird omission from that list.
