Not happening.
Maybe, maybe not.

But isn't something like that more due to match ups?

Glad someone brought this up. Louis was as washed up as Ali was when he fought Holmes. Ali should have never been allowed to fight him. But I degress. I love watching old nighlight reels of Rocky but... He like Tyson fought in a era when the division was weak. People will probably kill me for this but he had almost no boxing skills just a pure puncher with a solid chin. Tyson with Cus/Rooney was a better fighter.

I'd say Tyson by (T)KO

Tyson had trouble with elite figthers that out-boxed him. if someone was gonna come forward and bang with him, they were writing out their own death certificate.

Frazier never backed down and outworked fighters. His best defense was his offense.
He could knockout Tyson if he caught him with the left hook, but...

I just see them as similar fighters, with Tyson faster and beating him to the punch.

I'd give the edge to Tyson. Both guys have the ability to knock the other one out at any given time. It would have been an awesome fight.

pure puncher is an understatement, the guys right hand could level anyone in the history of the sport.

you dont go 49-0 (43KOs) with "almost no boxing skills".

This always turns into an agree to disagree debate, so well just leave it at that.

Okay I should have said limited boxing skills, because he didn't need them he hit harder than any man he ever faced maybe anyone who has put the gloves on.

fair enough

he made it difficult to get a clean shot on him as well, his defense is overlooked big time.

Yep that is the style of bobbing and weaving that Tyson and Frazier employed. They actually fought alot like Rocky but didn't have that right hand.

So is "solid chin". You couldn't knock him down. You couldn't hurt him. . .and clearly, you couldn't beat him.

He would fight you until he was dead.

I dunno about how he compares to modern fighters, but I think it is only fair to compare guys to other guys from different eras, by comparing how they performed in that era against their era's competition.

They had their punches, though.

Tyson has one of the most devastating uppercuts in boxing history.

Frazier had the Hook. . .left, iirc.

What a great thread. So terribly sad that all of the crooks adn the BS sanctioning bodies and BS weight divisions have made boxing such a mess these days. Even so, when two truly skilled, courageous fighters lace 'em up, touch gloves, and give it their all for a title, I don't think anything in sport is better.

One of the last great pure individual sports left.

But MMA is way better right now.

Boxing has indeed gone into the shitter, when Mayweather and Pac are out of the sport for good; its going to get even worse.

I just watch old school videos online half the time, great to watch some of the guys from way back.

Love watching Sugar Ray Robinsons stuff
& Dempsey was a fricking animal.
