Bronny is an target for hate, and accusations of not being worthy. But have some perspective on it. Organizations do a variety of things to accommodate the players they want on their roster. This is just part of it for LeBron James. And if it results in positive impacts for LJ, isn't it worth it? Renewed energy for a veteran player? A better overall leader and teammate? These seem like real possibilities. There have even been reports recently about him being open to a pay cut in order to bring on another player through free agency. Just that might make the moves with Bronny worth it. I'm not saying they'll achieve X, Y, or Z as a team, but these moves have plenty of positive potential for the organization.
That’s a pretty long rationalization. Fact is, you could write an entire book trying to, and it still wouldn’t make any sense.

He's 40 years old. They need to tell him and Rich Paul to piss off and let them know that they don't run the show anymore. 10 years ago, this would have been worth it to keep LeBron happy.

Don't let any of this distract you from recognizing this as officially one of the worst trades of all time:
Shai was 2nd in MVP voting this year
2020: 2nd round exit
2021: WCF loss
2022: missed playoffs
2023: first round exit
2024: first round exit

What does that have to do with this thread topic?

Good point. Unlike the thread topic, that actually happened.

It seems to me like the Lakers have just accepted defeat during the rest of the LeBron era over there. "You want us to draft your son? Okay. You want to sign a max deal? Okay. But, we aren't trading away any of our future assets for this dog and pony show"
They'll do like they did with Kobe, and over pay LeBron and do what he wants, so that they can hope to lure some future star over there 15 years down the line

Not really. I'm not even saying what they're doing with Bronny works out. Just that there is organizational reasoning, positive potential, and that while it's a unique situation with a father and a son, it's not all that different from other organizations doing things to retain players they want.
How it goes in the more long-term will depend on who else they sign, how it goes with Redick as coach, how Knecht is able to fit, etc.

James Worthy fired for telling the truth about bronny James
Oh look, another make believe thread just so you can try and talk about Lebron.
This board is hilarious. You can't seem to stop talking about Lebron. What are yall gonna do once he retires?

They love to hate. It's similar to Deion Sanders and his sons.

The Lakers should make Lebron pay Bronny’s salary out of his own pocket.

Please go back to being a fan of an irrelevant franchise.
The Clippers did for Oklahoma City what the Nets did for Boston.

Can’t think of the last time the 55th overall pick got that kind of deal.
Especially one who averaged 5 ppg on a mediocre college team

Bobby Brown, a very good friend of James Harden, was on the Rockets for several years in what clearly seemed to be some sort of backdoor agreement.

LeBron fricked over some guy on the Lakers roster, who will be cut to make room for his son.
He basically used his influence to hijack the Lakers, and give an unfair advantage to one of the most privileged kids in America.

LeBron doesn’t care about winning it all anymore

Yeah
Mitch got two years guaranteed and team options for year 3 and 4… he also became an unrestricted free agent after year 4, a benefit for second rounders that first round picks didn’t get
