The story is a byproduct of sensationalist journalism. Carter was racing, but evidently the girl who was driving the other car (purportedly while intoxicated) was a willing participant. And it was a single vehicle accident.

He left the scene and then lied to police about it.

He's extremely lucky only to be charged with racing and reckless

They could potentially tack on more charges.

Not a good look for Carter. And he probably ought to stash some money from his first contract away for the civil lawsuit. But there doesn't seem to be anything there now indicating he can be charged in the death of the two people in the other car.

Yeah, she was driving at 104 mph with a BAC of .197. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

What is wrong with these kids, world in their hands and they just throw it away

Even in college they should know to not be this stupid - don't they have people to prevent this from happening?

he won’t be playing football anytime soon.

He'll be drafted in the first round and will be a possible starter at the beginning of the NFL season. Talent talks.

Forget the charges because I’m sure he can work his way thru that. Can you imagine racing against some friends and see them hit a tree and you just leave them there to die to cover your own arse?

Not defending his actions, but dude knew he was 3 months away from life changing money and probably saw that all going away. He was scared I’m sure.

Still speaks to the culture issue of big time college athletes and poor decision making though. There is a conversation to be had there.

I hope this stands as a wake-up call for him. No more drunk driving, no more excessive speeding. He was given a second chance. His friends in the other car were not. Henry Ruggs was not either.

Wasn’t Bobby Phils killed while drag racing against a teammate? I think it was David Wesley he was racing.
